Bricked my H10 with Rockbox
Can someone knowledgable confirm that I am screwed?
I thought I followed the rockbox instructions carefully. My player tries to boot. I get a message that a rockbox file cannot be found and the player shuts off. Is there any recovery? Windows does not recognize the player. The player will not boot up. Do I just throw the player away? |

Is your player a UMS or MTP player? If it is a UMS player, it should just connect via USB before it even starts rockbox, so rockbox shouldn't interfere with being able to hook it up.
To elaborate on that a little more, if the cable is plugged in to the player and PC while the player is off, it should set up the connection before Rockbox has anything to do with it. I should know, I've messed up my rockbox install enough times now. |

Bricking your player with Rockbox is impossible, as it does not touch the built in flash memory.
Boot it into UMS mode however your player requires, then either: * Rename the file you would have renamed to Original.mi4 to H10.mi4, renaming the current H10.mi4 to something like H10rockbox.mi4 Or if you didn't back up the file * Search the internet for the H10 firmware for your model (UMS or MTP). Reinstall it, then work from there. Your player won't be broken beyond all repair, no fear. |
