H10 5/6GB Custom Build

Hi.

It seemed like there was a dearth of recent builds of the H10 5/6GB rockbox firmware, so I made one myself. This post will be updated with each new build to save reading through a thread to the end.

Updated 6 January to resync. No longer patched with ignore-the, which is in SVN.

This build contains:

BMP Resize
Multifont Support
Random Album
Backlight On While In Plugin
Scroll Margins
Progress Bar Slider
Y-Margin Scroller
Custom WPS Line
Custom List Position
Pong Multipulse
Custom Splash (Splash provided for 5GB only).

5gb:

rockbox5gb20080106.z ip

20gb:

rockbox20gb20080106. zip

Cheers.

- TheMono

excellent work im really pleased youre doing these.

i cant think of patches i'd want off the top of my head cause its been so long, and im still using angryman's builds from may.

i'd like to know which wps' can be used with your build cause thats kind of a deciding factor..

Any chance you can build some for the 20gb ones? That would be amazing!

Sure, I CAN build for 20Gb, I just can't TEST for 20Gb... So I'll post one later, but use at own risk lol.

WPS-wise, I honestly don't know. I'm currently using ZenPod Vision H10, which works perfect and is one of the more patch-needing WPS. If you upload the WPS you are using, then I can test it, or if you want to do the testing for me and let me know what it is compatible with, you are MOST welcome. Realistically, most of the commonly used WPS support patches are in, just not the custom line patch, yet. It's fairly risk-free to test, just copy your current .rockbox folder on the player to .rockboxold, then install my build. Turn it on, select your various WPS, and if anything doesn't work, just hook up your player again, delete the .rockbox folder, and rename your .rockboxold folder back to .rockbox, and you are back where you started.

EDIT: Here's the same build as above, but for a 20Gb. Not tested, and compiler gave me interesting warnings. But looks like it SHOULD work...

(Link removed, see the first post for current builds)

Further to what I said before about the custom WPS line patch.. It's still coming. I can get it to apply cleanly (well, except for the firmware for remotes, but that doesn't matter for my purposes), but now it won't compile properly.... More work to be done...

bmp resize is used for album art to resize the cover images.
scrollpad fix should fix something for the scrollpad as the name says. don't know what exactly.
multifont is that themes can contain various fonts and font colours I think.
scroll margin gives wps lines the ability to start at a defined point of the screen and end at a defindes point
with progressbar slider the progressbar can be replaced with an image, sliding from left to right
y-margin lets text be positioned at a definded y-coordinate

hope this all is correct and sorry for my english

ah, thanks for the informations.
i have done a double cross with angryman's build...but it seems that what angryman's build has, he doesnt(such as pong patch etc etc). what he do have, angryman's has it as well...
how can we ultilize the multifont patch? i sure wish my wps and theme can support chinese...

The scrollpad fix just changes the logic which the player uses to detect what you are pressing on the scrollpad. It helps eliminate that annoying "scroll back again" when you press on the top and bottom extremes of the pad.

And psychooo - multifont does not imply multi characterset support - all it does is allow rockbox to use different fonts for different things, instead of one systemwide font. If I come across a patch that helps with charactersets though, I'll be certain to include it for you.

Consider it done.

See the first post for the update. And that is a nice theme by the way - I downloaded it to test it, and I can confirm it does work with this build.

Honestly, I'd rather focus on the music and looks side of things before I get onto plugins like games. If I have some spare time I might have a look into it, but as of now it isn't a priority. Sorry.

Just wanted to chime back in, saying that the 20gb one works just fine. Thanks again!

BTW, I believe Rockboy is integrated into SVN.

Thanks! It's great that someone finally patched recent version.
Can someone tell me why these patches are not in SVN??

The patches listed aren't in SVN because the Rockbox team doesn't consider them stable enough or streamlined enough yet to add them. The Rockbox team's goals are to get the code to do what they want it to as smoothly as they can with the least amount of code needed to do it to save bytes.

Which, incidentally, I agree with as a goal. But different strokes for different folks, and from the quality base they produce, I'd rather heavy mine up a bit for the bling...

Right, off to catch my flight!

Hi Mono,

I'm going to test your build right now.

Just downloaded your zip-file. May it be possible adding the date of build in the name of the file? Otherwise it could be possible loading your file more than once thinking it's a new one.

Thanx for your work so far.

AF

First impression: nothing's changed to Angry's last build.

Great job, Mono. Angry's Lavenia theme is working, my Redesign of Lavenia is working as well (what a surprise - only a few changes).

I see almost no changes: plugins are in separate folders, ok.
Is it really possible that in the time between May and October nothing more has been changed in the SVN?

Nevertheless: Mono, many thanks for taking the lead.

ByTheWay:
on October, 12th they did a nice change in the daily build.
PP LCD drivers: * Optimised and cleaned up PP colour LCD drivers. Immeasurable speedup on iPod Color, huge speedup on small H10 (a factor of 3). Should be a bit faster on big H10 too. * Big H10 changed bitmap format, so needs reconfiguring + full rebuild. * Better register naming for the mono LCD bridge. Register names for the colour LCD bridge.

Maybe it's time for a new build, Mono?

AF

Think he is out on vacation. For some reason, all of the album art WPS's I have are broken (including Moribund, which I think is semi-current). Anyone know why?
