I am, and I'm sorry. I've just started another year of Uni, and am both doing postgrad and teaching, not to mention working another volunteer job also. Hopefully in another few days or so things will have quietened down, but as it stands I've been completely flat out.

I totally understand. Just wanting to make sure you hadn't fallen off the face of the earth or something.

Alright, so here's the deal. I have another build - BUT:

Rockbox has evolved quite heavily lately as you are all, no doubt, aware. As such, the patchset is quite different. First off, the bulk of viewports is now in SVN and working, and should also work with list functionality.
FS#8457: lists using viewports

Second off, the ignore-the patch I cannot get to work properly for some reason.

The progressbar slider patch is gone, replaced due to the change here:
FS#7476: Song Progress conditonal tag

Also, please note this if you are a WPS designer:
[rockbox] Revision 16388

The total patchset is now:
Custom Splash
Smooth Bitmap Resize
Backlight on while in plugin
Multifont (should work, but I make no promises at the moment)
Viewport Additions.

This will break virtually any theme currently working - even the default cabbie theme needs a bit of work, but is perfectly usable.

I will be testing throughout today, and barring unforeseen disasters, you can expect uploads tonight.

[EDIT] I have compiled a version with the Rockbox USB stack enabled - it seems stable, would people like this by default in my build or leave it out?
To elaborate, this means that when rockbox is running, you can plug it in via USB and have it appear as a flash drive on whatever computer you use.
See here for further: UsbSoftwareStack] < Main < TWiki

It is also worth noting that I know not the first thing about WPS designing, so I cannot test for things that have not yet been implemented in WPS for the 5gb.[/EDIT]

Do both if you can handle it for a little while. At least until its been tested throroughly on a few people's players. Just make a disclaimer that it may or may not work perfectly, and that general users should stick to the standard one.

Good to see an update, though. We all really appreciate what you're doing. =)

Alright, the standard version for the 5gb is here:

rockbox5gb20080316.z ip

The USB Stack enabled 5gb is here:

rockbox5gb20080318+U SB.zip

And the 20gb standard version is here:

rockbox20gb20080318. zip

Remember the breakage that I warned of when you use these though...

But which of these two versions should I download. I don't know what USB enabled stack means?

Honestly, if you don't know the answer to that, you probably shouldn't be using any of these yet...

Having said that, if you are going to, you may as well use the USB stack enabled one, the only difference is if you plug in the USB enabled one to a PC while it is running, it appears as a flash drive which you can place data on.

Thanks for taking the time Mono (if I may be familiar), one request though when you do a more stable to make a 20GB build with the new USB stack as I've been waiting a while for that.
Since you linked to Rings Beach, I leave a tab open to the web page every time I load my browser. Somehow I think I will make me closer to being there.

Thanks Mono. Last time i remember using the USB stack it kept asking for drivers (which was known to happen, and mentioned not to worry and just Cancel.), so i'm sure things have changed since then. Looking forward to using a new version. It's been a while since the last version, and like you said so much has changed.
Thanks for the new release.

Yay i finally got to download the build and am setting up my theme. I was just wandering what the code for lists on viewports we use.
At the top of the patch i see that you set up a .vp file but as i read down in the replies i see that you only require one line in the .cfg with the line 'list viewport:' I tried to use both of those methods but wasnt able to get it to work what am i doing wrong? Thanks

Regarding drivers on the USB stack - I've only tested in Linux, so I'm unsure as to its behaviour in Windows.

Thanks for the appreciation guys, it means a lot.

nillenille - I'm sorry, I haven't maintained an official changelog. My best suggestion is if you go to the official rockbox site, you can read up on recent changes to rockbox, which will all be included, and then in the bugtracker you can get information on each of the patches which have been applied.

jj oo ee yy - I'll look into it for you.

Alright, here's a 20 build with the stack on.

No difference from above - I haven't even updated SVN - only change is enabling the stack.

rockbox20gb20080326+ USB.zip

Ok, what exactly does the USB stack improve? The last build you put up from March 18th had the computer recognizing the new hardware, "installing" it, and having it work

it's supposed to make rebootibg unnecessary.

basically, now rockbox can function as a real USB device - like a flash drive - inside rockbox. if that makes sense...

you will get it showing up as an actual drive now - not just a bogus device.

So I guess I booted it while plugged in before. It wasn't a bogus device off of his Mar 18th build (w/o USB stack). I dunno

Black Thunder's last couple of themes in the 20GB theme sticky at the top mostly work. Battery and album art excluded.

Of course one of the most surprising things about this build is that the default Rockbox build doesn't look like it was made for the Archos Jukebox.

Good work all around!

I completely agree with what you are saying about the default... I quite like cabbie as a theme.

On that note, I think I forgot to package the splash screen in with the 5gb... If so, my bad. Sorry.

I'm currently working on updating those to work with the current build since viewports are now included using 2 fonts. But am having trouble with album art art text, viewports worked much better in the older builds when they were see through

I've installed Mono's build, but Lavenia viewport theme doesnt work correctly - some black stripes appeared on album art and it doesn't show any info...
Can someone help me?
