Any new build makes no sense before people are able to port there themes... Without the simulator this is quite a pain. The syntax is now quite different and nearly all old themes will break with viewports. Viewports is backward compatible to themes which didnt need any patches. But the most used themes here assume scrolling-lines, multifont or whatever which are replaced by viewports which can handle this functionalities now...

So here is the master-patch (attached zip)

Comment: You may need to replace my full paths i used to apply this cleanly or you name your folder structure exactly as mine
folder: rockbox_svn <-this is the patched build
folder: rockbox_svn.orig <- This is the original rockbox

If you dont get it working try to remove all rockbox_svn/ and rockbox_svn.orig/ entries
(search and replace e.g.: --- rockbox_svn.orig/apps/buffering.c CHANGE TO --- apps/buffering.c)
)

EDIT: YES IAM ON A MAC (because of the DS_STORE STUFF OR WHY?)

Understood. Will build as soon as i know i can actually build a sim properly... Which should be minutes.

EDIT: Angry, are you on a mac?
EDIT2: SVN Sim compiled OK (No errors - haven't actually tested it) - applying patch now.

If you are using cygwin you need to be sure that you copy the SDL.dll in the folder of your simulator-buid otherwise it wont work. Easiest way... download a SIM like rasher's simulators mentioned in this thread and look for the SDL.dll and where its located, copy and paste)

More information can be found here: UiSimulator < Main < TWiki

EDIT: I am off now for the next few hours... Hope it works iwantanimac and thank you!

Angryman + iwantanimac's Viewport Simulator test builds:

Okay, here they are. I'm not sure exactly what i just compiled, but i applied Angryman's patch (See his post above) into two Win32 simulators. You can get both at the following link:

http://www.4shared.com/dir/5287991/7...Viewports.html

Notes on the builds:
Both include the required SDL.dll and are confirmed to run under Windows.
Both were cross-compiled under Ubuntu and have been patched to support use of Codecs and Rocks (So you should be good to go anyway)

As for the patching, it patched cleanly from what I could tell, and it seems to function fine.

Just so you know, this is ONLY for updating Themes and WPSes to conform to the new format. IT won't function on your player at all. Those builds are coming soon (And will be from TheMono or Angryman)

Those interested in a viewports-enabled build see Angryman's thread here:
VIEWPORTS SIM & TESTBUILD ::: WPS Creators read this!

I won't post the links in this thread though due to the epic amounts of breakage if you try running themes designed to work on my older builds on this viewport build.

Hi. If my question are in wrong place excuse me, I'm new of iRiver forum and Rockbox...

I have a H10 5Gb Pure and I want put Rockbox on it for the possibility of use Flac and WPS with album art,
An example of what I want is this Lavenia screen WpsIriverH105Gb < Main < TWiki

I try to understand what can I do but I'm lost in patch universe...

The question: what patches are necessary and where can I find? Example, where I can find album-art-patches-5.1 ?

Thank you
Roberto

Don't worry, you are fine to ask here.

Have a read of this page, which tells you how to install Rockbox. The only variation from those instructions is instead of installing 'official' rockbox, install my custom build - see the first post in this thread. That is already prepatched, and will do everything you are looking to be able to do.

Don't worry, you don't need to patch anything yourself.

I would strongly recommend that you use Mono's builds because you dont have to patch anything with them... Before installing read the installation instructions in the manual there are special notes for the bootloader of the Pure models!
Chapter 2 Installation (manual)
I am sorry the Lavenia theme is quite outdated and i didnt have the chance to fix it. So this wont play cleanly anyway... Maybe you want to try the viewports version which has less functionalities right now but look the same. In that case you have to use Monos build posted above and look into the VIEWPORTS thread also mentioned above

EDIT: TWO GUYS POSTING AT THE SAME TIME HI MONO

Lucky we both posted at the same time, as I am apparently a retard and forgot to post the link, which was going to be the exact same one you posted lol.

Ok.
I have just put rockbox in my H10 5gb Pure....with some attention...but it is ok.
I download the THE MONO version at link in top of this thread.
Now what can I see is the standard ROckBox interface.
What I must do for enter in the Wps world? I read the Viewports topic but I don't understand a lot of thing...I think that is developer oriented, I'm only a user.

How can I put a beautiful screen interface with album art in my H10?
Thank you again.
Roberto

Ok... thats the easy part... Download the zip file i attached to this message and copy alle the contents in your .rockbox folder. The folder structure must be kept as in the attached zip file.

folders are: backdrops, icons, themes, wps and fonts... THe fonts folder doesnt exist yet in your directory structure dont try to search it

After that in your rockbox menu Select the Theme by "Select theme" NOT select wps...

Thats it...

Due the fact that you are using a viewports build there are nearly no other themes with album art available but thats just a question of time. The_kind already announced a viewports version of hclix in between the next week and others will surely follow.
Have fun

Hold up on that... If you downloaded the build from the first post of this thread, you are NOT using a viewports build, and so the WPS above won't work.

Instead, try this version of Lavenia:

Box.net - Free Online File Storage, Internet File Sharing, Online Storage, Access Documents & Files Anywhere, Backup Data, Send Files

Other than that the instructions are the same.

Thanks for the tip. It clashes badly with the multifont patch, but I'll get to it hopefully tomorrow.
