Music Not transferring
Yet again, another problem I have
I'm trying to transfer my music again I got a couple folders on last night Now, whenever I try ti drag music on it, it loads for about 30 seconds THen my computer says the file can't be found And then if I look at the H10 on my computer, there's nothing there, like I disconnected it And if I unplug it, the USB connected screen stays Meaning it's frozen Anyone know whats wrong? |

Music not transferring - cable problem?
I've had similar problems when using a cheap non-iriver cable to connect my H10 to the computer. It transfers some data then freezes. Can't disconnect from the PC, can't get a response from the H10.
I then remove the battery to reset the player. Sometimes on powering up again I have found data corruption on the H10 disc. I have now given up using that cable for data transfer, but it is still good for recharging the battery. |

I am having the very same problem, using an original iriver cable.
I already borrowed a cable from a friend of mine which I know of that it is working, and this got me the same behaviour. I haven't got a single idea what might be the problem, but I rather think it isn't Rockbox-related , but a loose contact somewhere inside. As my guarantee passed away two weeks ago (and the player went mad three days later on), i'll open it up and see if there is anything to be done and I'll let you know. |

It seems to be a rockbox issue.
I downloaded the Bootloader from http://007quick.googlepages.com/bootloader.html and so far, it appears to be working. €: Hell no. Still not. |

Wow....it gets even worse....
I tried using the iriver firmware updater so I can put the old firmware in, and then install rockbox If I don't have my H10 plugged in, I can proceed to the next page of the updater fine But If it's plugged in, it'll freeze and then a popup will come up and say "Please check your network connection ID = H10" Any ideas, anyone? I did manage to listen to some music on the way home, because I got just a few CDs on there, so at least that works fine... |

edit: this is shit. i looked up usb stuff on wikipedia and my 'knowledge' was wrong. all usb connections supply power.sounds like your usb connection - the one on the computer - is non-powered. funny thing with usb connections is theres a few different types, ver1, ver1.1, ver2 (all backwards-compatible), and then powered and non-powered. non-powered is good for passive devices like thumb drives and flash card readers, whereas the powered type is needed for things like digital cameras and mp3 players (in most cases).
try using a different usb plug. i bet you've done this already though, so if you have, and none of them work, or better yet tried all the plugs on another computer and none of those work either, then i have no idea what the issue is. but im positive it definately isnt rockbox-related. including the bootloader. wanna know how i know? because rockbox has 0 usb connectivity. it purely _cannot_ do usb, so any usb connectivity you experience is the result of the (onboard flash) iriver bootloader. repeat: the iriver bootloader controls all the usb connectivity.

Hmm, alright. I'll try using a different USB port. I've always used this one though, and it's worked fine up until now.
Oh, and it gets worse again I tried putting the original firmware bootloader on it, since the firmware updater wouldn't work And when it would start up, it would initialize, then the top part of the screen would turn white..and it would just freeze. Edit - I managed to get the OF on there with the updater now. I'll let you know if I manage to fix everything Last edited by ASAOK : May 19th, 2007 at 04:27 AM. Reason: Fix |

Try another file manager
Hi,
a friend of me tried to connect his 6GB H10 to my PC with my USB cable. Problems the same way as you mentioned above: Frozen h10 displaying "USB connection" and a pc who says "connection lost". Then I tried another file manager - and it worked. I used a freeware file manager called Captain Picard, just because I wanted to have a small piece of software and different from the windows explorer. I do not know if this is a problem with the USB driver or with the explorer but it still works. Try it and give feedback. Greetz AF |
