H10 battery keeps "dying" permaturely?

Recently, whenever I use Rockbox and then shut down the player, if I leave it for some hours then come back to use it, it doesn't turn on. Even if I press the reset button, it still doesn't come on.

When I connect the charger to the player, it comes straight on, without even pressing the on button. It then loads Rockbox and says the battery is dead and needs to be recharged, and that it's shutting down. However, it doesn't even shut down, even when I hold the power button. It only goes off when I press the reset button.

After all this, it finally lets me turn on with the power button, and shuts down properly when I turn it off. But then when I leave it for a few hours and come back to try and use it, all that I said above happens again.

Has this happened to anyone before? Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Also, I don't know if this is relevant, but I replaced my broken hard drive, so my H10 is working with a new hard drive. Donno if this info is vital though.

ive been having this problem, but a worse one also. I get about 20-25 min of battery life tops. then the volume starts increasing, or if im browsing files, the cursor moves up uncontrollably. thee screen will flash a few times, fade and click off. If I try and turn it on, I get the iriver low batter icon. If I wait 5 min, I can power it on and use rockbox for another 20 min or so... until it repeats. It is unbelievably annoying.

Do your original firmwares work ok? Just to rule out hardware.

my original firmware works fine. its definitely something with rockbox. I have tried formatting a few times, no changes.

Just turned my H10 on after leaving it off for approx. the same time I left it before and it didn't come on (16+ hours). I left it on the original firmware and it came on fine. Therefore I'm guessing it's the Rockbox firmware.

Next time I'll try and leave it for 24 hours for the original firmware to shut down, and then see if it comes on.

1. Make sure you have a VERY recent build of rockbox (download the latest version before you try to reproduce anything).

2. You just need to charge your battery after you drain it out. It doesn't really sound like a problem to me...

I've been charging the battery after it's apparently drains. I'll leave it on the charger until the red light goes off, something even long after the light has gone off.

I have a recent build, within the last 2 weeks. I'm also using AngryMan's build.

Recent is NOT within the last two weeks. Try using the latest SVN build and see if it still happens.

Nor is Angryman's build anywhere near recent.
Use SVN build instead.

i thought i was the only one.
but my h10 can go on straight for about an hour, then the battery doesn't have any bars.

Volume goes up randomly, even after i lower, then screen flickers for a bit and H10 dies.
I tried to turn it back on about 30 minutes later and it worked with one bar.

I wonder if I can get more battery life with original firmware.. even though i like RB

You definetly get more battery life with the original firmware. What build are you using? sounds like a bug to me but you need to use an updated build to confirm.

HT2791, when did you last update your firmware? It sounds like a problem we were having when RB first went onto the player. I would download the latest Bleeding Edge builds from rockbox.org

just go to the rockbox website and download the current build there..if it fixes your problem then there might be a bug in the build that you're using right now..dont forget to completely delete your .rockbox folder and rockbox file, after making sure its deleted, you can paste the current build in your h10..

I'm doing a battery bench test on my player right now, 5gb version, have 128 kb/s mp3 going, and the theme, is Rockboxed. I will find results either in an hour, or in a few! This is My newest build by the way!

I can tell you already that it is going to last way more than an hour. Are you using a 20gb? May be a problem with the 20 gb.

I ran a more recent build (about 2 weeks ago or so) and was getting 7-8hrs (IIRC) from the battery bench (all at least 128kbps).

http://007quick.your-websites.net/test.txt That is my battery bench test results, Seems that I only got to 50% and then it cut out on me! I will have to try doing a test with the current builds from rockbox.org
Seems you people were right, only question is, is it fixed?
