how do i fix untagged songs

now that i use rockbox, when i add music to my player i usually just go through the folders and create new ones to put my music in instead of using wmp, the only problem with not using a program to do this is that some of the tags for my music is incomplete. on rockbox it will name these songs untaged in the tag cache databse, but if the songs are currently playing, the proper song title appears, most tags on the songs i download are incomplete, because i download individual songs off of limewire. is there any good easy to use program ( already have easy h10, no clue how to use that) that i can use to have a complete tag database, because individually fixing each song would take forever. i would appreciate any advice

Well, you could try with QMP beta (www.quinnware.com) which tries to find Tags for the tracks in its Media Library. This service is based on Gracenote MusicID, I have no idea about OpenSource Alternatives. Quite handy and useful though.

P.S.: Illegal downloads...I don't say more about this.

MP3Tag. Great program for working with ID3 tags, and is free. Dont download or mention it on this site, cause people could get in trouble.

Yeah, but if I understand him correctly, he wants a program to identify them, not to tag them himself. Is MP3Tag able to do this? By Fuzzy logic?

Why could people get into trouble?

Legal reasons, for not mentioning downloading stuff (and Jeff, the guy that runs MisticRiver) doesnt like talking about it. So we dont.

MP3Tag can look them up on FreeDB, but only by album.

Using windows media player is not the best option for getting info for large amounts of songs, but it includes album art. I use it sometimes

There's nothing wrong with mentioning mp3tag here. I have done so many times. What our posting guidelines prohibit is linking to illegal downloads of copyrighted material.

I wasnt talking about Mp3tag, as I know that is opensource software, but he mentioned: "i download individual songs off of limewire" which has been known to carry illegal music. Sorry for any confusion.

I could be wrong, but seem to remember some people saying they were getting illegal music from there (not on MR, but privately). I applaud you on making the right choice and buying music.
