New to Rockbox

heyall,
I've had my H10 for about 10 months now and I love it.
I got the UMS version.
I'm really scared messing with my H10 system files but rockbox sound really nice.
Can anyone that actually tried or uses rockbox tell me if it's really worth having? does it work properly?

Thanks alot,
Mark.

Rockbox has always worked fine for me, and is a huge improvement over iriver firmware. You are correct, it doesn't support wma, but it should not be too difficult to convert to mp3, it just might take some time :[

Can u specify why u like it so much?
I've also seen people who don't have all their buttons working.
I guess it will take a lil effort to convert everything and install it so I wana make it worthwhile :P
thanks,
Mark.

Completely safe, you have absolutely no chance of permanent player damage.

Saying something like that is a lie...
The H10 is like a small computer, and like a computer - it is extremly stupid.
The smallest change can cause it to go nanners, even just transfering a song...
However, RockBox has a very small chance of damging your player because it doesn't touch the flash file.

the thing about this installation is that there are no scripts or automatic things that happen without you knowing it - everything begins and ends with replacing files, manually. should something go wrong you simply change the files back..
just follow the (short ) instructions and there won't be any problems.

..don't forget to backup the files you replace, just in case..

You could, but there should be no need to do that. All you need to do to restore the iriver firmware is to put the original .mi4 file back in place.
