When I tried this, it would not boot into the original firmware or Rockbox?

You do realize that
- You need the new bootloader
- You rename the original firmware H10.mi4 (Which is at least 3MB) to OF.mi4

If so, then i'm not sure. I haven't used that yet.

I have two .mi4 files, one called H10_20GC_original.mi 4 and one called H10_20GC.mi4, the first is nearly 5MB and the other is about 50KB. How can I tell if I have the newest one? I have updated recently to AngryMan's most recent build.

I would recommend just downloading the newest boot loader from here: http://007quick.googlepages.com/home (I don't know the link to the official ones, though there should be no difference) put that file into the system folder of your H10 then rename the 5 mb file OF.mi4 Once you have done that... it should work!

I have an iriver H10 6GB player

alright I tried it using the method on the first post and it didn't work for me. I get "system files missing" saying to download them from iriver.com

I have the rockbox folder in E:\
enabled it to view the hidden folders
Renamed the old file in E:\System to OF.mi4, and copied the UMS loader into E:\System as well

in the original post there's a link to a FTP loader for 5/6GB as well. Do I need both the UMS and FTP loaders?

007quick.your-websites.net there is a more up dated version of a guide there! You should only need one bootloader, but make sure that you have the correct one. MTP is when you plug it in and it shows in My Computer, as an mp3 player thing, while UMS is when you plug it in and it shows in My Computer, a hard drive looking thing! I will try to change my guide tommorow to reflect this fact!

I tried your way and still the same thing, missing system file. It shows the hard drive looking thing so I used UMS bootloader. I'll try using the FTP one

edit: nope, same crap.

don't think so. It's a normal size, red 6GB iRiver H10.

Are you sure that you put the new bootloader into the system folder? make sure that you didn't rename the bootloader, as it looks for a particular file! If you are sure that that is not the case, then cut all the .mi4 files from your /system folder onto your computer, download the bootloader and put it in the system folder. Try that and see if Rockbox loads!

What WPS's are compatible with your build? The ones compatible with the normal build?

Right now, my build works only with the normal builds, though I could be wrong. The trouble is that people make the WPS based off of angryman's build. I am working to get those WPS working on my build, but so far have only got album art to work and not some other necessary patches.

I have never seen that problem before! What you are saying is that everything looks fine, but the scroll bar doesn't work? The only thing I can think of is if you downloaded a malfunctioned build, or if you have the wrong boot loader? You will have to give some more details as to what you did prior to the error. eg. What you downloaded, boot loader, build, etc. were you put files.

Eragon, are you trying to scroll with the pad? Currently you can only use the top and bottom halves as buttons, try pressing down on the very top of very bottom of the scroll pad and see if that works.

okay
i have downloaded the newest version of rockbox from www.rockbox.org from the daily builds page
then i have downloaded bootloader from the "how to install rockbox on the H10 H20" page. i have unzipped the folder into rockbox and then rockbox has booted up fine.
but when i get to the main menu the scrollpad malfunctions and the 0 button makes the scroll highlighter go up and down. the back button does not work .
what when i revert to the original firmware it works fine.
If my bootloader is out of date can someone please give me the link for the most recent one
thanks
any help would be greatly appreciated

That sounds odd. At least you hadnt done anything unrepairable to it. I would try downloading the bootloader from the Rockbox.org site, and reinstalling. Not quite sure what would cause this problem. Sorry.

Have you tried reinstalling your copy of Rockbox? You might have already been told, but it usually helps.
