Also, there are some mentions about Rockbox playing video. Someone please tell me how and what format etc.

Many thanks in advance and sorry for these n00b questions
Rockbox does not use the same EQ settings as the OF, and there is no FM tuner support yet.

I would actually boot into the OF for that, even though thats not available yet either.

The EQ really hasnt been optimized, so songs skip, just give it time, rockbox will totally pwn.

Video is avaliable but only in MPEG form and w/o sound, for more info search the Rockbox wiki for MPEGPlayer. On the same topic, what's the progress on video? Someone told me that since Rockbox has been implimented on any players, there has been no sound, and info?

Thanks! One final question. How do you make iRiver show the album art? Suppose I have the jpeg photo of a particular album cover of U2. Where do I put this file? Or is there any other way?

You put it in the folder, and make sure it is sized correctly for the theme (BlackGlass uses 75x75, I think), and name it cover.bmp

Do Not Mess with the .rom file!. That is the initial bootloader that turns everything on, and tells it to look for the .mi4 file. Messing with that can turn your player into a paperweight. This way (replacing the .mi4 file) has the same chance of bricking your player as reinstalling iRiver's firmware (exremely remote).

is it possible for me to get copy of the .rom file?

i dont know how i lost it

Why exactly do you need the rom file, Idioth? Just trying to make sure you dont mess with this unless you have to (has the chance of bricking your player).

i just installed rockbox today and quite happy with it.... i just did a screendump coz its quite messed up, i havent been in this site for some time, and the last time i've read this rockbox for the h10 was it was still out of h10's reach. that's why i was surprised that it now works with h10. i have a 5G mtp lounge gray h10.

i used Black Glass Beta 3.1.2 by The_Kind.. and has ver. cvs-061009

If your player is powering on, and getting to System Files Missing, I am pretty sure you have that file. From what I understand, it is the file that "turns everything on" and gets them working. I would try and download a .mi4 file, and put it in the System folder (remember to get one that is for your player, aka. 5/6 or 20). I have a backup copy of the 20 gb one on my website, as well as skinned firmware for both versions. www.prism.gatech.edu/~gtg834q/H10

Hello Everyone! This is my first post and I'm happy to be a part of such a wonderful list. I just purchased a iRiver H10-5GB Player. . bought it on ebay. . a 2 for 1 sale, the other player was a iPod Shuffle. I'm planning on reselling them both, but not before i toy around a little with iRiver. I have a Quicksilver G4 Mac Running OS X 10.3.9. . I heard that there is a way to trick my computer to recognize the HD on the iRiver. . can someone explain how this can be done?

Again, Greeting to everyone!

TIA

-VDO21 .

If you have Rockbox installed, hold down the O button when it is off and connected, and keep holding it while you power it on. Otherwise, remove the battery, connect to the computer, and then power on while holding the O button.

For some reason, when I do that, my computer doesn't recognize the player (20gb version). I turn it off then connect it to the computer and hold the O button while turning it on. Then I get stuck at the blue iRiver screen with "Emergency Connection" at the top.

If you are asking if it voids your warranty, then yes, it does void your warranty.
