As you might have guessed, I started this thread in response to yet another Official Name reminder that was posted the other day by one of the Version Nazis, but I didn't want to reference that because I really don't want a flame war -- I just tried to think of something to lighten up the discussion.

Of the names that others in this thread have suggested, I really like snoop58's "My Precious v.3" -- that made me laugh out loud. I also like Judge's "Rocky Grail" -- because of how appropriate it is.

One thing that bothers me though -- when I first tried to come up with a list, all my names were based on 80's pop culture. I didn't realize what an old fart I am. Does anyone else remember that "Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo" and "Revenge of the Nerds" were actual movie titles?

Call me a version nazi, but if you had a friend named David who absolutely hated being called Dave, would you call him Dave? His parents would've named him Dave if that's what they'd wanted, and the same is true for Rockbox 3.0

But so far none of the Version Nazis raising the stink seem to be actual Rockbox developers. So the analogy is more like having to listen to David's neighbour Mike insist that everybody else in the neighbourhood refer to David by his full name of David Thurston-Howell III, when half of them call him Dave when he's not in the room.

"Okay Mike, whatever... Say, you hear that Dave bought an iPod?"

"His name is David Thurston-Howell III, you got it? That's what's on his birth certificate!"

I don't see how this is relevant. You've had at least two people raise the issue who have made substantial contributions to the project and are part of the Rockbox team.
