CODERS NEEDED: Cut, Copy, Paste functions
Ok, so I posted this at the Rockbox forums today:

Using the file browser, you can delete files but I didn't see an option to cut, copy, or paste.

In the iRiver H300 firmware, the file browser allowed you to move/copy files using the cut, copy, paste functions. Is this something that can be incorporated into Rockbox? Most likely menu for it would be when you hold down the "action" button (NAVI on H300s) and see the file options (where the "delete" function is).

Uses:
--If using the Doom plugin, you need to rename any WAD files, "doom2.wad". You could keep mulitple different WADs in different folders, and copy/paste them into the /DOOM folder to play different versions.

--I prefer to keep my playlists in a folder other than the ROOT - Rockbox saves playlists to ROOT. I'm pretty sure the playlists files would work from any folder, so the ability to cut/paste them from ROOT to /PLAYLISTS in Rockbox and not connected to a PC would be nice.

--Using WPS background files as "permanent" backdrops. Being able to copy/paste a bmp from the /.rockbox/WPS/[WPS_Name_Folder] to the /.rockbox/backdrops folder would be nice.

Yep, should be in CVS soon too, safetydan is just adding the ability of copying/moving directories as well as single files, then will no doubt be commiting it.

Sorry about the rename, I meant that a cleaner rename would be nice, that included an easier way of moving directories But that could be fixed in the move function. I was just thinking of those times you want to rename a playlist, and it would be convenient to store it somewhere else too.

Come to think of it, a better work around might be if the initial saving of playlists had a choose directory function (or a default set directory location in the menu).

So, I guess I've added nothing to this thread.

Yeah, but it's a hassle to type it in each time, and if you make a typo things get messed up. A set default directory (rather than root) for all your playlists would be nice.

The link didn't work for me, but I assume it pointed to this patch for copy, cut & paste. I don't know why it isn't committed yet in the default build, but it exists here:
