Unfortunately yes.
Meanwhile I solved that also. Now the converter keeps stopping at around 39000 articles. And yes, thats also a bug (never let me touch something important )

39,000 isn't really that much considering you're only going to be interested in a few of the articles anyway and not everything you'll want information on begins with A.

Still, progress is good. Only another 1,229,019 to go.

They will, Peacemaker, as the reason there're only(!) 39,000 is that there's still a bug in the converter. When Hellworm has it fixed you'll have all your anime articles

so just out of interest is the plugin ready yet?

ive tried looking through the 25 pages of forum posts but it got too tedious...

i see screenshots of the plugin in action but i just cant see anywhere to get the plugin

No. I think it's not finished yet. Some parts for example the converter for the data are nearly finished as far as I know

The converter is finished (just not very tested), so we are basically waiting for connell to finish the plugin.
I'm also experimenting with compression, but don't expect that to be inlcuded in the first release.

Wikipedia is updating every day, if everything goes ok and iRiver reads articles then must be a way to update the db. 3 gb is not so much for the hdd but is the ram ok for this?

Hey,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been quite busy over the last wee while and so I have not had much time to work on the plugin. There is a bug which makes the screen go garbled with certain fonts (I think it may be to do with the way my code deals with unicode) which has me stumped right now. I'll have another effort to catch it over the next week or so. I may also rewrite some of the plugin to dynamically use the plugin buffer as this may simplify things a bit.

Yes, Wikipedia is constantly updating and it is well-nigh impossible for our irivers to have an up-to-date version at any point in time, as even as the dumps are released there will be more revisions and changes going on.

However, I think that gursikh has committed to providing the latest Wikipedia dump (and some others of popular interest), and of course you will be able to convert any WikiMedia dump yourself with Hellworm's converter.


The RAM should be fine, as it won't be accessing the entire Wikipedia content at once!



And Connell, thanks for the update. It's on the wiki with the others
