Hi,
I've been trying to contact Slasheri with no luck. Can't find him on MR and don't know how to contact him through rockbox

If somebody could please pass on this message I'd be grateful!

Hi there,
I was trying to PM you on IRC but was having troubles. Hopefully you will get this.

I've been having some issues with crossfade mix that I'm not sure if you are aware of or not but I just thought I'd let you know anyway

I started a thread here ( http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?goto= newpost&t=35782 ) and this is the conversation on IRC I had with Linus and the others:

<webguest12> oh, just wondering, this is cormie from the mysticriver board, not sure what the story is with what I should be asking here and I'm not sure if it's known or unknown but there are some issues with crossfade/mix options.

<LinusN> describe the issues

<webguest12> These issues have only been present since the options of crossfade fade in/out delay/duration were applied, before when it was a simple crossfade/mix/off option and then the duration up to 14 seconds, it worked perfect. Anyway, when you have mix selected and the fade in/out duration at 15 seconds, it cuts off and doesn't fully fade out. I don't think it mixes like it used to either.

<LinusN> webguest12: it would be easier for us if you could present a step-by-step instruction on how to reproduce the error

<webguest12> ok, if you have your H1XX there, just switch it on and put the fade in/out duration to 15 seconds and put it to mix. The best way to hear this is by playing a song and while it's loud, skip to a song with a low intro, you will hear the way it just cuts off the song towards the end of the mix.

<preglow> the current crossfade options are bit hard to understand

<preglow> slasheri was going to simplify them, but it hasn't happened yet

<webguest12> but there will probably still be the glitches even if the options are simplified no?

<preglow> doesn't mix turn off crossfading and just overlap the tracks?

<webguest12> http://www.misticriver.net/attachmen...tid=2547&stc=1 that's the difference between crossfade and mix, option a is crossfade and b is mix

<webguest12> did you get that link preglow?

<webguest12> Linus?

<webguest12> LinusN: did you see what I said above about the errors and how to reproduce them?

<LinusN> webguest12: yes

<XavierGr> webguest12 better tell this error to Slasheri

..... and that's when I thought I'd PM you

If I could help I would but I haven't got a clue about coding

Are you sure that is this users name on MR, I can use the mod powers to put you in touch if you so like but I can find no user with that name.

To be fairly sure you reach Rockbox developers, post to one of the Rockbox mailing lists. There's but a few devs who spend time running around the forums.

And if you really only post to a forum, post in the one at rockbox.org as that has a slightly higher probability of being read by Rockboxers.

In Slasheri's case, I don't think I've ever heard him reading MR.

Thanks a lot everyone I don't know if Slasheri is on the forum and if he is, I don't know his name. I don't know how to post to the mailing lists I'm afraid. Hopefully the guys can pass on the message. Thanks again everyone!

His Mistic River user name is Slasher. However, he hasn't been around Mistic River since September.

You know, if Slasheri could implement an intelligent crossfader, there would be no need for the fade in/out duration settings. Those settings could be automatically calculated on a per-track basis, depending on the characteristics of the track. Sadly, though, it looks like this sort of thing is not possible with the H series hardware.

Thanks Febs, let's just hope he gets the message somehow

Tech, didn't fully read that thread but from what I gathered, it listens to the two tracks and mixes them with bpm etc? Nice idea

There's a plug-in for Winamp that turns Winamp into a great mixer. It's really good and highly customizable. It analyzes the volume level of the current track to determine where to mix the next one. So when one track starts fading out, the next one mixes in smoothly. It keeps the music flowing non-stop. I love it. I only wish something similar could be implemented for Rockbox on the iRivers. If it could be done, then there would be no need for the fade in/out delay and fade in/out duration.

The "Beat Matching" idea was just a thought. I really don't care if that gets implemented. But I think some people might.

Yeah, I read that review too, but I was a little confused. I've been using the plug-in for years and have never seen an ad. Maybe there was a recent update. I've got version 1.75.

Anyhow, if there's a newer version with ads, it's good to know that there is a patch to remove that infestation.

Oh sorry. I thought you wrote that there *is* a patch somewhere. I didn't realize that you were asking me about it. Anyhow, if you PM me with a valid email address, I'll send you what I have. I can't host it anywhere.
