Anyway...
I have been lightly following the progression of Rb for a while. The ONLY reason I have not switched is AFAIK it doesn't support genre filtering. I only listen to my H120 by genre. So this is a very big deal for me. Is there any future plans to add this feature? Yes, I know I can always devise a playlist for each genre and use that. However, I do not want to edit each genre/PL every time I add songs to my player. It is worth it for me just to use the Ivr DB until RB adds this feature. Is this in the works? Thanks.... |

There is a plugin you can use that will create playlists for you called databox. this saves a file on your HD that you can run to generate a playlist with all the files of a certain genre.
Quick HowTo: Go to Databox plugin Create filename 'Electronic' Set the search as <genre> == "Electronic" <END> This saves a file in the root of your drive called Electronic.rsp I save all my .rsp file into a 'Search' folder then just go to that folder, select the .rsp file, let it run, this it creates a playlist in the root of your drive called 'search.m3u' run that and you've got a playlist by genre. (which with Rockbox you can have a truely random shuffle on If you update your music collection, just run the .rsp file again and it will include any new additions. HTH |
