Resetting: Your solutions?
I update my H140 to the most recent daily build, but sometimes they're a bit unstable. It's pretty irritating when I'm on the go and i need to reset. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and what solution they've come up with. I put a little bit of a paperclip under the end flap on my outro X5.

I've used:

1. A paperclip
2. The metal clip from a binder clip
3. The tip of a mechanical pencil
4. A small piece of paper rolled up very tight

Just don't use a sharp pin whatever you do!
I used one once because I couldn't find a paperclip, and now my reset button is broken. Hopefully I will send my player to america to get it fixed though.

I use the toothpick on my swiss army knife in a pinch. It works better than nothing . Sucky thing though is taking it out of its iSkin to do it

I use a 2x4... waitaminute, that's how you reset an ipod.

I just put a hole through my iSkin, its only a tiny hole and I make sure that I go through it every time I want to reset. Taking it outta/back in my iSkin got very annoying.

I have a paperclip in my wallet.

I just press: Rec, Rec, a-b, play, a-b, rec, rec, rec, a-b, play, stop, play, stop, play stop.














then I realise the only sollution is to reset it so I use a safety pin attached to my wallet or a dart (dart board kind) and have pre pierced my iskin so I know exactly where to insert it, wiggle and it resets.

i've slid a pin between the fabric layers in my stock case. just pull it out, hit the button and stick it back in there. it's especially useful when you're going somewhere and there's nothing you can use.

It still works, just find the edge of the hole that is still pressable to reset with.

Yes, luckily I can still reset but it takes a long time, and I am worried that if I reset it many more times the button will stop working completely...
Plus I'm hoping that iRiver will fix the ticking bug on my player while I send it out as well...

Im quite sure my reset button has fallen inside the player. But I can still reset it, i just push a pin in to the hole, but I cant find the reset button. However, it still resets, but I have to push the pin quite far in to the player, and I dont feel the reset button. It just resets anyway. And its not the normal fast reset, it takes some seconds longer too.

Maybe I should use the iriver firmware until rockbox is more stable?

I managed 2 completly write off my reset button buy using a pin until it got to the point where it just would not turn on any more. its now currently on holiday 2 germany

I had the same problem, but found out it didn't really need to be pressed in a long time, you just need to give it a solid push so you feel the click. It should reset quickly.

I use the wrath of god and reign down firebolts and thhuderclaps on it's low down good for nothing ass, and when that dosn't work, I use my wang.

Well surely if the player has frozen no buttons will work? And anyway, what will then be used to go instantly to the WPS (an esential feature)?

It doesn't freeze most of the time... I get more error's ("I04 Illinstr" like those). When it's in that state, I can just read out the cpu ports to get the buttonstate.
