iRiver announces planned firmware upgrades to H series!

iRiver announced their schedule for firmware upgrades. OTF delete, OTF playlists and gapless playback made the grade and are planned by June (30th probably). No other mention was made about the other issues..hopefully they will also fix the shuffle and DB manager!

Well, I think we finally embarassed them into posting something...too bad it took so long!

I'm sure some of these inprovements were ment to be included in the H300 launch but the pressure here and over at the iRzoo was getting to them.

On-the-fly File Delete
May
Real Shuffle Mode

On-the-fly Playlist

So you really will have the features you want bu June ... even if it IS the 30th, lol ...

Am az amazed and happy as the rest of you guys, but one thing made me chuckle when reading the statement;

From my inside sources at iRiver they are only making the "Real Shuffle Mode" to make the coreman guy stop complaining.....no one else on the planet thinks the existing one is bad anyway.

I also have learned the OTF delete function really means that each H series owner will be sent a magnet to wipe against the HD to delete tacks.

Hopefully when they get these chaff firmware upgrades out of the way they will get back on track with lyrics support and the lava lamp LCD remote function so many of us wanted.

Just found that iRiver made a typo...instead of OTF Delete. they actually developed the WTF Delete...of course using seadzz's Ronco Electric Super Duper Deluxe MagnoWiper magnet...

I don't have a clue how I missed that "Real Random Shuffle"...must have been because I was in shock!

BUT at least they are admitting that the current shuffle isn't "Real Random"....

Here's what I posted over at Head-Fi (because the site was down ....AGAIN. )

Quote:
Not to sound like a deek or anything, but I'll believe it when I see it. You'll all have to forgive me if I seem a bit suspicious or untrusting when it comes to what Iriver has to say. Looking at their web site now, it's just the biggest goof and mess of a site.

I now know what Austonia was complaining about when he said he couldn't find the firmware updates. The site has changed a little bit and it's totally unorganized. No news section, no updates section, and information strewn about like a mentally challenged person put it together.

As far as the post about the updates goes, I wouldn't put it past some person to fake a post by iriver and make such a joke. On top of that, IF this really is genuine, I'm STILL not getting my panties all moist. Let's see if the features are even implamented correctly. Yes...trust me...there's a way to screw it up.

On a positive note, if it's real, it's about time. But there's still NO excuse for their behavior..what makes NO sense to me is, if you're a company who is constantly getting flak for things, and your customers are ALWAYS complaining, WHY, if you know that you're going to address the issues, would you wait until the last minute to finally say that you're taking action ? I would think that the right thing to do, would be to make sure that the people never get to the point of where they're constantly arguing and complaining.

So...w/e. Good luck to all of us.

*jumping inside of self waiting for gapless*

And a decent screensaver.

Sod the battery life, we *need* 'Flying Windows' implemented with iRiver logos instead of windows symbols.

It would look even better with the backlight flashing on and off all the time in screensaver mode.

Well, if it is true (with respect to SS's musings), I will be well chuffed. Not too bothered about OTF deleting, more-or-less satisified with shuffle as it is, but OTF playlists and gapless playback (! hardly any other players have this!) will make me cream my pants....so long as they're implemented properly and not a pain in the ass to use...
re skepticism... could it be that they've developed these features for the *new flagship* H300 (or whatever its called) and its simple for them to carry them over to the iHP firmware?

Next step: autosyncing/DB updater software!

I have reason to believe the post is accurate and true. I'm trying to confirm and will hopefully have an answer by tomorrow sometime. In the mean time if you look here you see that there is a link to the post. Unless someone hacked the iRiver site the only way a link gets posted here is if iRiver puts it there.

Alright...my doubts have subsided. I'm taking the more optimistic road now. As long as the gapless implamentation is done correctly, I'm a happy camper. Wow. Gapless !!!!

Hehe..don't worry, she'll be back. She's actually a friend of mine. Haven't spoken to her in a while, since she moved to California...She sent me a bunch of pics like that..some a bit more provocative. Ones that I can't really post. I'm actually hoping that she'll wander by the site and see her pic one day and get freaked out ! Though I doubt she will, she's not a tech geek. But I'm sure she'd be flattered by your comment as well as my actual posting of her pics.

Besides, who doesn't love Christopher Walken ?

Very true, Christopher Walken is 'the man'. "I've got a fever...and the only cure is more COWBELL!" or whatever, I'm sure I'm misquoting it hehe.

And all I've gotta say is it's about damned time. This could be bad though...I think it's one of the signs of the apocalypse. ^_^;;
