HP and IRIVER
i have just found out that currently iriver and HP are having a dispute over the IHP title. probably old news but some companys are using it as an excuse for not supplying the ihp140 until the packaging has been renamed to h140

tell me bout it. 2 weeks ago they told me it would arrive in a weeks time. last week they told me it would be in on tuesday. yesterday i phoned up and have been told by the end of the week. me waiting for ma replacement for two weeks, two weeks without a player.

Thanks want to continue work on my next dock but it's a bit difficult without a player, been without mine for 10 days while waiting for a replacement - at least your supplier is listening to you, I'm feeling like I'm left in the dark...

What's to dispute? The 'i' indicated it was an iRiver, the H indicated it was HDD based, and the 'P' stood for Player, if I'm not mistaken ...

Hewlett-Packard imprint their name in full on their products - it is their logo that bears the initials HP - and if they are expecting us to believe that 'iHP' was going to detract from us buying their PC's/printers/scanners (i.e. non DAP products) etc. , then their pettiness in thinking so is good enough reason not to, instead ..

http://www.aria.co.uk because at the time the it was the only place that had any iHP-140's in stock at a decent price, everywhere else was either out of stock or priced near and above £300!

I always though the i stood for internal hard disc player. But I suppose iRiver makes sense.

well, i might, might be able to understand where they come from (can't say i agree with it), but, isn't it a bit late now ?

the ihp-1xx/h1xx line has been euthanized, so what's the point ? (other than the money)

I agree that it's silly but it's not about money. Under the law if an entity doesn't defend its trademark in all instances then it loses that trademark. So if HP didn't say something then in the future they would lose the ability to defend its trademark in future more egregious circumstances.

If you wanted to get obsessively picky about it (and don't we all? ) you could point out that the Hewlett Packard's logo is lower case while the hp in iHP is upper case. That's unless of course HP is trying to lay claim on 1/13th of the latin alphabet...

Mind u though when i use to do a search on amazon before i got ma player it never use to come up with the iriver. it always came up with HP products. so maybe its a good thing that iriver are having to change the name???

the legal system is pretty screwed up if you ask me....

well, in Kobe's defense, the girl's case was so riddled with holes it's not funny. i mean she had another guy's semen inside of her when she went to the hospital to report the "rape". she claimed that it was from wearing dirty panties. two probs with that. first off, it implies something of a promiscuous lifestyle, that she had unprotected sex in a situation where she was forced to get dressed without access to a bathroom where she could clean herself up (a car or the woods or something). second, even if there were traces of another guy on her panties, unless she was wearing those things on the inside there's no way she could have gotten as contaminated as she did.

i'm with you on the other instances, but let's give Kobe a break. certainly sex happened, but nobody i can think of goes and has sex to make themselves feel better about being raped...

sorry for the tangent, studying to go to law school.
