You're right, $100 million for Apple is nothing, but I'm sure Creative did not have the legal and financial where/with/all to stand toe to toe w/Apple for several years. They probably figured that was about the best they could do.
Not really fair, but what else is new.

Not really, given that if they won they were pushing to hav iPods removed from sale in the US.
But, at the end of the day, as pachinkoman said, Creative probably don't have the resources to have won if it had gone to court. Also, according to the BBC, as a part of this deal, Creative are now allowed to make iPod accesories that Apple will market as a part of the 'made for iPod' range - something that probably would've cost them a lot in license fees if they hadn't had this leverage. So it's more than just $100 million that Creative have won. |
