ipod stinko's at high bitrate mp3's??

Read this over at HA. Seems a poster there is not too thrilled at 320kbps mp3's. Someone else posted the following to support this.

"I ran a few tests awhile back and the iPod did seem odd:

http://www.audiosense.org/results/po...iPod%20Mp3.htm

in comparison to the Karma:

http://www.audiosense.org/results/po...arma%20Mp3.htm

check the last graph on the iPod, there is something wierd with the Stereo decoding on high bitrate mp3s"

Maybe the ipod was not designed to work on anything but low bitrates afterall.

"The graphs have spoken" ha ha

Yeah, I read that earlier.

These people must have ears like radar or something seadzz, I've been listening to my LAME aps files and it sounds fine to me.

I know it's not so high a bitrate as they are talking about but aps could still be considered as high for the average user. Oh well.

Oh please, those HA people border on insane most of the time. I mean, they're so fanatical about graphs and charts, that they often invent new ones to justify the fiction that they produce in their arguments. Ugh...those people disturb me. The 'almighty HA GURU...bow down in submission you worms !'

I look at most of those HA people as I do Scientologists.....l ike a joke. Only difference between the two groups is that HA people still can't claim tax exemption. Supprisingly, they're not a big enough religion YET.

The real question is whether or not any of this nonsense is noticeable by users, even those with golden ears.

Have to agree with Sweet....some of those guys are "scary"!

Now you know why my former 'self' was so hated by HA peeps and their insanely-devoted fan-club... coz i told it like it was.. and definately didn't need to produce 'stats' and graphs to prove my points.

Amongst that crazy posse, there are some cool 'intelligent' non-fanatical peeps.. the ones are the silent minority usually

I thought those HA folks knew a thing or two until they had two polls. The first one of intrest was the age of fourm posters and the second of note was the estimated value of their home hifi. Average age was in the very early 20's and home hifi consisted of a sound card and PC speakers....for the most part.

Not that these two things mean that much but make you wonder.

Very good point coreman, I wonder how many have been influenced away from decent kit (of whatever brand) by garbage like this. Some treat every uttering from that site as the be all and end all.

To be fair, they do set out their stall pretty clearly as a scientific/ analytical site but, as seadzz says, I don't think a lot of their members fit what the HA forum "ideal" was supposed to be and it all kind of goes downhill from there.
