iRiver trys to shine a turd
I smell "marketing" poo
"iriver refreshes you with new face!" As part of its global branding campaign, iriver is proud to present its brand new Corporate Identity (CI) as below. iriver has designated 2004 as the inception year for its overseas brand marketing campaign with extensive plans to implement innovative global activities. As a result, there has been a growing need to integrate the iriver brand not only domestically or regionally but for all its target markets globally. The previous CI received numerous criticisms regarding its disproportionate focus on product designs and not enough on the actual letters 'iriver,' resulting in poor visibility and recognition. Therefore, there was an immediate need to raise the visibility of the 'iriver' name in order to make it easy and convenient to read. In addition, the new CI aims to avoid the mechanical and gothic fonts that were traditionally identified with many electronic products in the past, and instead adopt a friendlier and smoother feel associated with newer trends. The new CI reflects the aggressive and progressive image of a multimedia company through a definite contrast of straight lines and curves. The rubine-red color selected to signify raw energy and limitless enjoyment also reflects the sensitivity of cultural leaders. If the previous CI accentuated the products' sheer power and performance capabilities drawing appeal from a younger male demographic, the new CI recognizes a quickly diversifying user base and serves to approach them in a friendly manner by catering to their cultural and daily living needs. iriver's new CI became effective on March 25, 2004 on the company's Korean website, and be expanded to overseas branch site. Logos and billboards used in department stores and various other advertising materials shall also be revised with the new CI in stages. The new CI will appear on products starting in the latter half of 2004. Thank you. They could have saved a bunch of money anad fixed the firmware instead of launching this new logo $#%%!@. BUT nooooo. Stupidity is running deep at iRHQ.. sdz

WTF?.. what a load of BS. I liked the old logo...seemed kind of appropriate to the techy-specialist-orientated nature of the iHPs...but if they are aiming to become more mainstream maybe they will sort out the interface on future HD players...maybe?...O r perhaps they will just go mainstream and mediocre and the product quality will drop...

You know, we should buy shares in iRiver....if everyone here bought $1-5 worth (I dunno how shares work at all)...couldn't we have some influence? - like we SHOULD as consumers
