iRiver releasese software....great!.. .choke...vomit...mor ons

In case you care to download a 3.0+MB software package to manage your vast lyrics collection just pop over to iRiver Korea. Under there download section you will find a package called LDB Manager. Is in English and other languages.

http://service.iriver.co.kr/down/iri...Setup_1.0b.exe (I don't know why I even bothered to post this link....I'm so upset)

Another prime example of how important some things are to iRiver...and others are clearly not. Do I smell Korea burning or it that somthing akin to dinner. God knows how many engineering man-hours were spent making this cute and almost completely worthless software package.

bunch of dopes at iRiver...(shaking head in disgust)....I want dung balls and plenty of them.

my unhappieness mounts by the passing month..."love the player...hate the maker"

That is sad, they seem to be quite obsessed with this lyrics lark. Is it a big deal in Korea or something ??

Shame

This all reminds me of those days (back in the 80s) when I was involved in a particular mainframe (ask your parents) product and we had regular meetings with the developers. Both internal users and external customers had long lists of changes they would like to see made to make the thing a bit easier to manage, or to improve outputs a bit. The marketing department had short lists of things which would not improve usability one bit, but would make the thing look better in adverts, would make the feature list a little bit longer, and would theoritically make it easier to sell.

All these improvements were labour intensive and would leave programmers to spare time for bug-fixing.

It seems that nothing really changes - potential customers are still more important than people whose money a company already has. Not that iRiver is being singled out: any company where the marketing department has too much influence is the same.

Maybe all those emails to iRiver need to be sent by potential customers and not existing customers? Just say "I and several of my friends are thinking of buying a jukebox and would buy yours if only it had on the fly playlists and recording level meters (or whatever your gripe is)"

Did anybody see the fight in S. Korean parliament on the news the other day?

It really isn't that funny, but the Korean President was impeached by the opposition party and they held the podium in order to keep his supporters from speaking. I guess it's Lord of the Flies-style over there.

So eventually people start getting pissed and basically a riot breaks out. They were throwing books, dudes in suits were holding other dudes in suits back so they couldn't get in front of the mic, it was like an episode of American Gladiator, only better dressed.

But maybe the President got impeached for trying to abolish Lyric Support in favor of ogg use in the DB.
I'm making up some t-shirts that say "Reinstate Roh Moo-hyun," because I think it's a good cause.

If anybody wants to read the real story, here's a link:

I saw it, compared favourably to some of the punchups in Italian parliament over the years.

I just read this at the iRzoo:

This just in ! My inside sources tell me that some finishing touches are being implememted and tested at this very moment. Aside from 3D hologram lyric support, there will be a new feature which when activated, will attempt to sieze control over the listeners mind in order to make them appreciate firmware that seemingly only Korean People care about !

And since this firmware will only be distributed outside Korea and only works on non-koreans, they're apparently having trouble getting past the whole "volunteer" part. Weird.

hmmmmmkayy...... stop taking drugs and then posting total rubbish!

Subject : [iHP-140] RE : Firmwire Rumers By : Spikeman56 Posted : Mar 19, 2004

actually this is not far from the truth... the next firmware will just basically improve lyric support with a new lyric manager program :=(

If the thread from Spikeman56 is true I have loss what little respect that remains in my body for iRiver. World class morons..stupid !@$$%^&

Sdz,

How the f&%k does Spikeman56 know what is coming out in the next firmware?? iRiver keeps its cards very close to its chest when it comes to firmware upgrades.

I suspect he has just found out about the new lyric manager program, assumed it is new firmware, and that it will be on the international site soon.

My hunch is we will see the long awaited playlist on the fly feature added.

I can feel it in my water - no wait, I just wet myself!!

Well, knowing a little about this 'inside source', as I do, I'd say probably not...

He's a strange guy, with strange ideas... He means well but hardly ever gets it right...

He's harmless... Best to humor him, I think... It's kept him happy so far!

Well I got a kick out of your post and the others....and you got Seadzz's blood circulating which can't be a bad thing, helps to clear his system of all that weird food he's been eating lately since they started culling the chickens....!!

I, like all of you, would love to see the next firmware be a major step forward but I am keeping my hopes small so they aren't dashed.

Well I have been educated all about this lyrics issue by a poster at the iRzoo named highwayman. According to him Korea with 50 million people, Japan with 130 M and China with 1.3 billion people are iRiver's target market for products. The US and Europe with 300 M each are not. That is why iRiver works so hard at keeping asian customers happy with lyric features in endless supply. It also explaines why iRiver could give a rats butt about fixing the existing open issues within the player.

I think that is utter hogwash. The average joe (or Chen in the case of China) makes about $200 USD per month. He is not buying a ihgp any time soon AFAIK.

When these guys start to pony up and buy iRiver products I may buy that arguement.....until then I want some of the issues fixed and enough of this lyric nonsense.

Bullhocky,

sdz

We've discovered the reason at last, it seems...
Why there are so many chinese...
It's not that they populate fast, it seems...
It's just that they grow on trees!

Hi all, i do actually think that Iriver is very care about China's market (or maybe u can say Chinese's market)...

IMO, lyrics funtion can be very useful to certain languages. For example, a word in English is about 5 characters but any word of Chinese is only 1 character. Therefore, even with 3 lines of display available, the whole sentense of lyrics is still available to display perfectly on the screen.

Just my 2 pence...

Best regards,
[so]hai®

Enough of this lyrics nonsense...the screen is way too small and music moves too fast for it to be a truly useful function...if you want to practice lyrics it is a lot easier to print out the lyrics and keep them in your pocket. This is simply a totally useless function and I would bet my next paycheck that less than 10% of ASIAN iHP owners actually use it. It can't be a major selling point otherwise all the other Asian suppliers of MP3 players would be pushing it....and to my knowledge, none of the others have this useless feature.

Try reading the instructions for setting it up....it "ain't" exactly user friendly to get sync'd.
