I have a friend who is a web designer and worked on the Amazon.co.uk web site. Consequently he has a few friends at Amazon who reckon they will be stocking the IHP-140 at £299 !

And they expect them in before the end of the month - probably Monday 26th January.

I try not to think about these sorts of things because it makes me even more angry about how much I payed for my ihp-120, less than one and a half month ago.

Very good price for any new customer considering buying one though!

Any Difference

Is there any difference between the 120 and the 140 apart from the extra space?

I have ordered a 120 from advancedmp3players and am waiting for it to arrive! (Next day delivery has turned into 7day delivery!!) I dont need the extra space as i only have about 5Gb of music anyway.

Is it worth cancelling the order and waiting for the 140?

Cheers

Big Al - I'm in exactly the same position with AMP. Order last Friday night at £243.99, almost straight after the price being lowered on the website.

I had returned my Zen NX 30gb due to serious problems with it and they HAD received it back and there was just 30 quid difference to pay. For this reason, they ignored the order even though I said I would pay the difference by NoChex immediately. They let all the available stock go to orders after mine and I am now waiting being told it will be Monday at the earliest. So for me, next day delivery has turned into 10 day delivery.

So you have my sympathy.

As for whether it is worth waiting for the ihp-140. I'm in the same boat and cant decide. I much prefer the black and 40gb is nice although I only have about 18Gb of music at present. As I would like the extra to use as an external drive. Someone also told me that although not fixed, the remote has improved wiring which doesnt cause as much/as bad noise problems.

Tough choice, but as you only have 5gb of music, I would probably say no unless you hate the champagne colour. But then its a lot extra to pay for just the colour.

Timmer

Snap i Ordered mine friday night as soon as i noticed that the price had dropped! I had an email this morning saying delivery would not be until monday. So i emailed amp3 and asked if saturday delivery could be arranged as there would be noone in to take delivery next week, and they replied saying that they would send it out by royal mail special delivery and therefore it would be delivered on saturday!!! So i get all weekend to play with it before i have to go back to uni!!

All this waiting for delivery makes me wonder if they had any stock to begin with!!!!

Well if there are no major differences 120 it is!!

Cheers

Big Al

They offered me Saturday delivery by special delivery too, but dont get too excited.

Special Delivery is only guaranteed on the next WORKING day. They do say that there is a chance of it turning up on the Saturday but its only that - an outside chance. In my experience of buying off ebay, I have never had a Special Delivery item turn up on a Saturday that was despatched on the Friday. It has always turned up on the Monday. If there is noone in next week as you state, I'd be careful. AMP are giving you the impression that it will turn up on Saturday when it is only guaranteed for Monday before midday.

Also, note that AMP are saying on the product page that stock is due on the 19/01/04. Thats Monday - so I'd double check if I was you.

Well, my ihp-120 from mp3players.co.uk turned up on a Saturday morning, after being dispatched quite late (after 4.30pm) on a Friday afternoon, and they used Royal Mail Special Delivery.

At the same time though, I wasn't expecting it till the Monday, because as stated they only guarantee next working day.

Odie - I agree, there are circumstances where it does happen. But Big Al had pinned all his hopes on it and I justed wanted to give him a reality check so as not to disappoint him if it doesnt turn up as it is in guaranteed for Monday.

I get the impression from his post that he is going back to Uni on Monday so it may be too late if it doesnt turn up on Monday. He may want to either re-order or get the address changed which it would be too late to do.

But yes it could turn up - I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya Big Al.

I'm not sure, but I hope so.

It looks like I'll be returning my ihp-120's remote to mp3players.co.uk for an exchange, I'm just hoping iRiver have actually fixed the problem, or I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of sending back/checking of remotes

Big Al - you may be interested to know that I have been told by Royal Mail that if the item does not turn up on Saturday by midday it would mean that it is not being delivered until Monday. Ok so this part is pretty obvious but bear with me.

I was told that in this case it is often possible to go down to the depot and pick it up yourself if you have the tracking number on the Saturday.

Thanks Timmer!!

I will have to get on to AMP and get a tracking number as their website is still showing the citylink tracking number for my order.

Thanks

Big Al
