pogo! ripdrive

here's an interesting new harddrive player, but i havent heard anyone talk about it yet.

disclaimer: link taken from amazon.com

i tried to search for the company's website but didnt find any. neither can i find any review on it. from the spec it look like the player can do a lot of what the ihp could.
it offers 20gb, usb2.0, 7 different languages, fm radio, direct recording. the player can act as an external harddrive. it have 12 hours of battery life. plays only mp3 and wma. there's a bookmark feature to add your favorite songs.

i do not know if its battery is replacable. but it uses 2.5" harddrive **light bulb**, which is laptops size harddrive. so you can probably buy a bigger harddrive and replace it like the nomad. except in my case i'll probably break it in the process.

the thing only cost $270, much less than the ihp250 which is $350. i dont know how reliable it is and how good the sound is, but this one look promising.

Re:ripdrive

Hey terrymx,
Just saw your post and couldnt help thinking ive seen this player somewhere before and it looks very much..well no infact exactly like an XCLEF HD-500.im reckoning this is what it is as ive never heard of ripdrive . Below are some links to the HD-500

http://www.xclef.com/pro03_e.htm

http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...ges/index.html (for this site you will see a list of mp3 players click the xclef hd-500,i know its obvious but just in case )

im sure if you search you'll find a lot more sites about it. It may be that im wrong about this but its just what you described it, and also compare the screen display to the first pic in the 2nd link they are exactly the same .
This player was one i was very close to buying at one point....before i saw the ihp-120 that is
Anyway let me know what you think

Later
p.s the battery is replacable

wow, it is exactly alike. seem like there's a review on it on dapreview.com. the strange thing is the company website claim 10 hours. and then i go to another shop they say its 22hours. dapreview said 10 and that some claim 17hours.

here is one interesting quote from the review:
"The actual transition from one audiotrack to another is just perfect (unlike with many other player's we've come by, pauses between tracks are (near) non-existant)."

and something about the battery: "The battery costs about $12 plus exchange fee. This battery is the same as a mobile phone battery."

only problem about this player is the distribution is not so good. look like only european store has it, and some is out of stock. it cost $367 when convert to US dollar. its newer 1.8" hd player, hd-800, seem impressive too, with ogg and wav player back.
