Neuros II MP3 Digital Audio Computer - Simply Amazing!
Just saw the review for this ugly looking HDD Mp3player, it looked so grossly ugly that i almost closed the window on the first review page. My first thoughts were that it was just some sub standard HDD Mp3 player. However as i persisted and read on, i was immediately blown away.
Other than its ugly and old exterior, this HDD Mp3 player is awesome in terms of features. You thought the iriver had alot of features? Well, double it and put them on the Neuros II Mp3 player, hell triple it even. It has some features that i never thought existed, one that amazed me is the HiSi (Hear it! Save it!) feature. It is supposed to be able to tell you the name of a song which you have heard on radio. What it does is it records a 30 sec sample of a song that you hear from radio and stores its digital sound pattern, then when you get home and connect it to your comp you can upload the digital sound signature to a proprietary online audio database and you get the the title and artist of the song instantly. Now isnt that wonderful? Also not forgetting its integrated FM transmitter taht works exactly like the Belkin Tunecast used with the Ipod. Plus it has recording capabilities, from internal mic, line in, and FM Tuner, programmable buttons, and get this - a removable hard disk! Meaning you can upgrade the storage capacity instantly if you want, (its maximum at present is 80 gig), or take away the HDD to get a very small 128 MB flash Mp3 player. Yes, its a flash AND a HDD player rolled into one, hence you are able to alter its portability according to your needs. Its also reported to have an awesome sound quality. Dunno hows its compared to the H Series though. However, even with all that features, i would probably still choose my IHP-140, cuz the IHP simply looks much much better. =) Check the review out yerself here, http://www.buddhasbarandgrill.com/co...ew/555/26/1/0/ |

Wow, it is ugly but that is a great list of features........
love the shortcut buttons but cant we just record a 30 second grab and submit it to their db for song identification? a

I have a couple of friends that have them.
They have some nice features. The built-in FM-Transmitter is kinda cool -- even if it is a little weak -- if you like that sort of thing, and replaceable backbacks providing you with additional drives or just a battery (you can get a control unit that contains 128MB of flash memory). I don't know how well the HiSi feature works, but it's something I would never use (it wouldn't be of much for NPR If they weren't so darned ugly |

Charging time 8 hours for 10 hours playback???? Hello!!?
Cant they at least copy irivers battery designs to be more decent? I mean, this thing is huge and has 10 hours playback(lets say ok) but 8 hours charging!! What the battery is made of, lead acid or Ni-cad?? |

generally hdd players that double as flash player arent usually that good. it sounds like its really good, but i wouldnt want a player any bigger than the h320 to be honest, and thats a great balance of size and performance. personally i dont reckon there is any comparison.

I bought a neuros.
I returned it. The features seem nice, but none of them live up to thier potential. The FM tuner is weak, and the MyFi broadcasting is weaker still. I could never get a clear transmission to my car antenna even with the player within 2 feet of it. The software is slow and akward, the USB 2.0 connector uses a weird proprietary connector, and does not transfer songs at anywhere near max USB2.0 speed. The small base unit is unusable without the backpack unit, since the battery is in the backpack. After I returned the Neuros, i bought an iHP120. I kept it. |

I was tempted to buy this thing....until I made a paper mockup of it. ITS HUGE. The supposedly "tiny" flash unit is almost the size of a regular HDD player.
Its features are great, at least on paper, but I don't want to wear a backpack to carry my player. |

I too had a Neuros MP3 player and returned it.
I simply loved the features that the Neuros had, although the FM transmitter didn't work as well as advertised for me. The main problem was the size of the unit. It was just too big. I don't really care about how "ugly" it is. I mean my iriver in it's carrying case isn't exactly a work of art. People who care about aesthetics in mp3 players should just get ipods. The iriver crew could learn a lot from the Nueros firmware and customer support dept. Their forums are an AMAZING resource. Name another DAP manufacturer where you can talk to the president of the company if you have a problem. |
