What Do You Guys Think Of The HPod
I don't think they're even changing the looks of the player just putting the HP logo on the iPod's screen. To me it looks exactly the same... i could be wrong.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/h...cfkmdflldfjk.0 Who thinks it will be a success? Pshhh why get an HPod when you can get the REAL iPod. Now That Is the True iPod Clone. |

Whaaaa?! This is a joke!!! That IS an iP0d!!! They haven't changed anything about it..... notice at the top of the screen it even says "iP0d".... The difference (if any) is probably the fact that it is more PC friendly (however they would do that...... accessories maybe?)
Well folks, this little device right here is the WHOLE reason our iHP had to change it's name to H...... thanks Hewlett Packard for this memorable moment *sniff*

The only thing really different is offering HP tattoos. Album cover art stickers that wrap around the player. Very ugly.

Yeeepppp. EXACTLY. But it might do better than iPod because it includes accessories. Unlike cheap Apple. Pshh Screw MAC. Hmm might be more reliable too.

I forgot to mention that I voted "Yes They Will Succeed"..... come on now, it's an iP0d, and we all know the success rate of they have had and will continue to have. And it's not even a competition for Apple because they sold them to HP in the first place.
HP wanted in on the DAP market but didn't want to create 'another one of those MP3 players', hence they bought a chunk of the iP0d to be included in their market so they could sell them as HP's not Apple's. Smart move on HP's part because they are 2nd leading PC seller in the US (Dell being the 1st). It only makes sense that they include a DAP to their line up..... to create a one-stop shop while PC shopping online. As a result, this will only put more iP0d's out there to the consumer...... and all us iRiver users will be even more scarce, yet unique and eye catching. I doubt M$ iRiver player's will have much success.

But IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME!!! If our iRiver already kick the iPod's ARSH why wouldn't it kick the HPod. Besides we have color and they don't HAHAHAHAHAH.... Color screen is more eye-candy. So we look COOOOOLLLLL. But yeah i think HP will OWN the iPod.

I don't think it will do very well i can totally see pple saying "why not buy an ipod"
unless the offer it at a lower price i don't see pple buy it as much as the ipod....i mean its like getting the copy of a hyper coler shirt because the real hyper coler is to pricey

hmm...this isn't what I call innovation, but who knows. Maybe it's for people who said they'll never buy an i()od but deep in their heart would love to have one, as they could be one of the sheeps they officially hate so
I don't see any gain in that, except for A()()le, 'cause I think HP had to pay a lot in order to have the right to sell i()ods. |

They'll sell these - they're not trying to hide the fact that what they are selling is, in fact, an Apple iPod that is somehow more PC friendly, likely because PC accessories are included. It's not called the HPOD or the HP iPod, they're calling it the "Apple iPod by HP." I'm not sure why anyone is making a big deal about this.

HPod sounds a lot better... well yeah there's nothing different. It's just an iPod sold by HP.

As far as I know, the reason this deal was made between HP and Apple was all about marketing and distribution channels.
It is my understanding that what will determine the success of the HPod is not what happens in North America, but what happens in Asia. As far as I know, the point of this deal is that HP has better distribution channels in countries such as China, and this is Apple's best way to get a piece of that market. (They would probablly like to do it themselves, but realize that that may be out of their league, so by partnering with HP they can still get a chunk of that market). Apple is supply the product, and HP's contribution has nothing to do with the technology, and all with getting in the hands of the consumer. I also bet they have product tie-ins planed for this release in North America. Now they have a brand, the "HPod", that they trash as much as they want. They can have all the corny product tie-ins and promotional material they want, without tarnisihing the iPod brand. Also in countries where Apple doesn't have a significant presence, HP can cash in on a good market name, since people there might not realize who actually made the product. |

Why buy an hpod instead ?
This is why someone would buy an hpod http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/gizm...pod-020510.php Though, the pod is kinda cool in black
