New FAQ Contest

Folks,

We are seeing a ton of posts requesting help on moding their H3XX bootup screens or otherwise making topical themes for their players. Having a FAQ that we could redirect these posts would free up the board for other and perhaps more urgent posters.

With this in mind we will have a little contest for the best and most easy to understand step-by-step moding instruction. This information will then be locked into our evergrowing FAQ section.

Please PM me your entry and after review we will post the best one (or mabe two or three) in the faq.

Prizes will be modest and here goes:

1st place; a cracker, useful when drinking tea or eating soup

2nd place; mid size ball of twine

3rd place; a big thank you from MR and a glass (half full) of water.

many thanks all and lets get this done as I do not want to see any more people posting requests for Flintstones skins.

After some thought maybe the prizes need upgrading.

1st Prize - Autographed beer can signed my Michael Jackson used during his "activities"

2nd Prize - Autographed copy of DIY crop circles signed by FG

3rd Prize - Smashed iPoo 1st generation. Ear phones work but the player is shot

Come on folks, there has to be someone out there that has some writing skills!

Heck I'd do the stupid FAQ myself (have written my share) but do not own so endowed player.

HELP!

This going to remain open til we get a FAQ that stops people from asking how to make "tub girl" boot screens.

I will do it, trouble is no H300 to do it on. And the fact I have several iRiver based projects ongoing in the FAQ regards so maybe in a few weeks if there are no takers and someone is willing to test the FAQ druring the writing.

Astec,

I am pleased to see there are two memebers here that are not "girle men" and are willing to step up tp the task at hand. Maybe with a tad of proding jeff can scare up some better gifts but in the time being I will try to come up with something more beifitting the effort.

Others out there there that want to "give back" to MR please bellie up to the bar. Lets face it, you all have learned something here...time to give some back.

I think first and second prizes should be swapped around, the fg crop circles are worth much more than some michael jackson and so is the broken ipod which offeres endless possibilities !!

No No how about me offering a life time of sign ups to certain spammers mailing lists as first prize. Pluse I hope the bringing back is not aimed at me or azesty as we almost only give back, rarely take from. But hey I can think of 100s of prizes we could add.

your own ownership of 1bit of data on the MR server as runner up prizes. Autographed MR letterhead signed by jeff (Including coffee stain). Doodled on thesis paper by Andrew Mel. and last but not least a full copy of iRiverter, h3mod, and the iRiver playlist maker programme emailed to the winners address for free.

Slightly worn toe nail clippings in a plastic bag? Think the actual value of this post is being worn away, anybody else have suggestions before sdz comes back?

Thats 3 offering, but mine is long term, as I have 2 FAQs on the go one help file to get done (10% in now) and my own life as well so its on the long finger, I suppose I could offer a dirty sock signed by me. Any other offers of items to use as prizes?

i'd do it. but there is one real problem with this whole thread. it never says which player the FAQ is for. i'm going to assume it is for the H3xx series, which means i'm out. but if it's needed for the 1xx series, let me know, and i'll have a go (whoa, i'm a poet, and i didn't know !)

EDIT: prizes you say ? how bout a pogo products ripflash trio ? but...it has some issues. what issues you ask ? well, it has a broken battery door, smashed screen, dented case, nonfunctioning headphone jack, and the connections are broken on the internal speaker. what can it do ? it is a decent paperweight if you pop in a battery. what else ? its a fantastic portable frisbee, or tennis ball.

well, i've made a general FAQ for skinning/themeing and how to do it...

it's in the skinning/themeing board.

not really a step-by-step guide tho.
