Hoax of the century?
Morning guys!

Getting in to work to see 119 replies kinda scared me. Then reading the first 40 where there's no hint of anyone doubting it scared me even more!

Let me say now, before i waffle on: It's a fake!
(Sorry to all those guys who put loads of effort into trying to get images to work!)

The blue equalizer bars were left out for two reasons:
1. I was too lazy to make them
and
2. I thought i'd leave something in there that would give the fake away.
And it seems to have worked!

I am gonna blame iRiver for me releasing this. I started making it the other night, and got so far as only having to format the video file so it would work on my player. Because iRiver released 1.27, it gave me a reason to finish the video off and post it

You didn't need to leave those bars out. Your shoddy work on the numbers were more than enough.

I still can't believe it ended up as news on the front page. (It's gone now.) Well, people believe what they want to believe - and damn you for not giving them good reason to believe it!

Yep, I saw it and believed, and started to try to make it work, but as I did I saw how many possible ways they could have choosen and knew it was unlikely for somebody to stumble on the right way without iriver guidence.... then I started looking at the video more closely.

Bastard!!!!!!

At least you posted it in News/Rumours like you should have!!

I had a headache last night from reading all the replies about this hoax...1.27K firmware...and messing with the latest H3Mod all at once. It didn't help that I had a long day at work.

Mixin - I figured you would have been watching this thread the whole time as a Guest.

No because I suspect they would take the money and run. It wont work. They are a bit laid back on the firmware front though. How many for the complete (current) range have been released, and Im talking K firmwares, so the bigger portion of them. Cant be more than 50 for all the devices.

What would really have been funny was if mixin had actually written album art support for the H300 firmware just so he could make a hoax movie about it. Yeah, that would be pretty wacky.

OMG, doing that to an ipod forum would be the funniest thing ever! But i dont think they have firmware upgrades so it would be a little hard to belive for smart people... but dumb people...! lol

I think they do have a limited f/w upgrade system... I'm constantly bugged to download an 'iPod Updater' component in OSX' software update module. So even 'smart' people could get fooled...

But we're smart aren't we? And what have we spent the last day talking non-stop about? What made it onto the front page as a news item?

Something about album art being unconfirmed but possible was posted as news last night


Im sure theres a video of an iPod Photo somewhere on the internet, then you could get a shot of its Now Playing screen, make it into a beliveable movie, and distort it in flash so that the movie you made matches the postition of the ipod



EDIT: My girlfriend has an iPod Photo, if you cant get it off the internet i could have her video it. (its funny how a lot of couples have both an iriver and an ipod)
