OMG! They linked to the iZoo!!!

At least it may make iRiver clean their forum-act up, if not their firmware farce!

Actually, how great that they linked to the Zoo--if they had linked to this site, all they would have found is a bunch of mannered people trying to be patient, but frustrated. Better that the world see the Zoo up in arms, for iRiver perhaps to think about what that does to its public image ... (And with all due respect to iRiver, to the extent it is trying. But I am sure that even you are frustrated by the delays and lack of information.)

For those of us in the daughter country in America, is the Inquirer a respected paper, or more akin to our U.S. National Enquirer (the magazine that routinely reports UFO abductions)?

Amazing that this issue has gotten to the level of national press. Anyone remember true world problems?

iRiver has been promising upgrades and firmware releases since last year, when the 40GB iHP-140 – pretty much an iPod clone – was launched. However, the company has released nothing yet.
Unbelievable to see how little investigation the Inquirer did before publishing such an article. There were releases since last year! Or when did version 1.40 and 1.50 appear? And they also released other software but firmware in this year. So this article is really rubbish IMO. The only thing they got right is that iRiver didn't meet its own deadlines for May/June releases, but that is pretty all. Backing it on anon's posts looks also kind of weird to me. A true journalist would have also contacted the company in question, let them know about the article and asking them for a statement. I guess if that article would have been posted here in the same way it would have probably been deleted by the mods

I find the fact that they call it "pretty much an iP*d clone" takes any semblance of belief that this might be a well-researched article away. But then, that is the power of marketing - and congratulations to Apple for successfully masking/re-inventing the history of the HDD DAP :P

I agree with QT. An extremely poor article.

It was either a very slow news day, or the journalist who wrote it could well be one of the pleasant anonymous people who post on the iZoo and rants about the firmware...

Depending on your browser, there are settings to adjust the color of the text and underline pre and post click.

I'm using mozilla 1.7 and it's set to 'blue' for unvisited links (default). However the link was black before I visited it - the page is overriding it somehow (maybe via JS). The link is also not underlined which is definitely unusual. I suspect the forum.

yeah, it's a bit of a design flaw on this forum to be honest, IE users miss links most of the time as it's not obvious what's text and what's a hyperlink.

This forum uses CSS (style sheets), therefore you can't change the style on your browser.

I digress, sorry.
Still, shouldn't complain ... why would you want to leave this nice forum

People actually gave that article the time of day..??

It stinks, in evey sense. Hell it makes some of the no-research writeups on equipment look informed.

And yes, i do remember when print space/media slots were taken up with real news stories - like stuff that affected the world, or real communities.

I leave a catalogue out, of headstones, for you all to choose from - and the one with the greatest votes.. becomes the one we'll donate for the grave of the iZoo when it finally kicks the bucket.
