apple have launched a new super small Mac computer called Mac mini today. just $499 its likely to be popular with iPod users. bonus for them. looks like it will be very successful and compete well against PCs. for more info see:

In Case U missed It....

I apologized in an edit to my original post (though edits can be easily missed). I didn't realize what U had in your sig until I came back to the thread. One of the things I like about MR is the atmosphere of healthy debate, while at the same time disliking honest-to-God trolls. I blame strong imported coffee, the generic tranquilizers, and a hormonal imbalance--but I'll do anything to rationalize my poor behavior....

In all seriousness, however, I jumped to a conclusion and sincerely apologize.

They better have a good cooling system or that thing is going to heat up and cause stability issues.

"You can also choose up to 1GB RAM and increase the 40GB hard drive to 80GB"

You sure you read that right Tyson?

80GB HD is ample, and 1gb RAM is fine!

Well, let's face it. PC's are much more flexible to Macs so PC dominance will still be supreme. I mean really, when Macs only get about 6% or less total marketshare that's pretty sad.

Mac's sexy? Sure, they look good just like that hooker the other night, but I don't think you'll like the after effects of using one...besides feeling dirty....

What a load of bollocks. no monitor, no mouse, no keyboard. By the time you have bought these, and they will have to be Mac compatible, the price will be at least $300 to $400 more. what kind of moron is going to fall for this , Oh yes, the same ones that by iPoo's. Well more fool them

actually pc's are selling much more often now without screens, keyboards, mouse as folk usually already have these or prefer to buy these separate as there are so many options out there. not much point getting screens, keyboards, mice included if they are not the ones you want.

Yes, but my point is that for the price you could get as well a specced PC and all the necessary peripherals. It is still GROSSLY overpriced.

u gotta remember that mac's traditionally cost more than pc's cuz they are all designed, made etc by one company and they dont suffer from viruses, skyware, crashing etc

we shall see how well they sell but i reckon their market share will increase significantly due to this new model. i am a pc man myself but i do admire the mac's in some ways

How much would a mini itx PC cost to have exact specs of the imac mini? I can build a epia based for the same price, but not a decent videocard- ATI or Geforce etc.

Course a decent midi tower or Micro ATX system at £340 is possible, but need to keep similar sized units (if you're bothered with size)

Personally would just get a Micro ATX, Midi or full tower.

Reminds me of other Macs. Designed for those who want to be cool and overly minimalistic. I personally prefer flexibility myself, but we'll see how these sell.

80GB is ample for what it is...
Obviously you'd keep all your lossless music on your fullsize G5 mac
