A Word from Reigncom CEO Myoung Woo Lee

The New York Times has an interesting bit from the "new" CEO of Reigncom (the company behind iriver) Only time will tell if the former Samsung/Sony executive can bring iriver back to the U.S. and abroad in a strong way. Here's a snippet from the article and a link:

"His diagnosis: iRiver had produced innovative and attractive products that appealed more to its engineers than its customers. His remedy is to try to replicate Samsung’s approach to market sensing, a method of observing demand to be able to offer the features customers want first."

Thanks for putting this article link here. Surprised I missed it in my paper yesterday. But I have to admit that I am not feeling confident that this newly reigning emperor of iRiver will ever succumb to the clamoring legion chanting "bring back H3xxx" hard drive players. if anything, we will see more Mickey mouse players and other Disney derivatives. Bummer

(and what is that about the iriver players appealing to the engineers only? is he talking about our sacred H3XX?)

Link's no good for me, but got the gist of the article from the quote I guess.

dap/mp4 market still seems to be a 1 team "race", just depends on what besides apple stikes your fancy enough to give it a try and buy.

Apple is currently the only manufacturer that seems willing to stay with one basic design and continue to refine and "improve" on it.

Everyone else in the game seems to pretty much start from scratch with a different player every year or so.

There's a few that long promising to me though - Zune, Archos, Sony.
