iriver has a future for FLAC
Free Lossless Audio Codec, or better known as FLAC, will be officially supported by iriver in the very near future.

With the scheduled release of multiple new iriver flash and HDD based DAPs, iriver has recently released a new version of iriver Plus 3. On the release note, it mentions that FLAC encoding / ripping / playback function have been added, and sync function will support any future player that capable of reading FLAC.

I don't use FLAC (yet..) but it's good to hear iriver keeps adding support for new things.

YAY!...I hope they are adding support for tagged .ogg too. (or have they done this with clix2 already)

and call me impatient...but i would like to see some actually players launched(in the US) soon.

Perhaps being a bit presumptuous but, might this mean native gapless support ? With Ogg and FLAC on the roster, now would be a great time for them to step up to that plate. I'm hopeful, but utterly doubtful, unfortunately.
