Creative has a quite large customer base and it can afford to have lower prices due to its sales numbers. iriver is the opposite. It has a realitivly low customer base in comparison and to make it a viable business venture they need to up prices to keep themselves out of the red. |

You lower prices to increase your customer base, you don't just lower them because you already have a lot of customers - if you already have a lot of customers, you leave the price high and make more money. Anyway, if iRiver are unable to price their products competitively, then that just means that they need to re-evaluate their business model. But that's all beside the point. I never said anything about why iRiver are more expensive, just that they are and that it takes them an incredibly long time to get their products to the market, rendering them semi-obsolete by the time they go on sale. It's a terrible shame, the products themselves are excellent but the way the company is run is quite as great. |
