Repair my H340 or buy a Zune 80?
My Iriver H340 was damaged in a car crash and I'm due to get some insurance money either for the original price or for the cost of repairing it.
Whatever cash I get, should I look into repairing my Iriver (by putting in a new 60GB drive as the original 40GB hard drive was damaged) or buy a new Zune 80. I am keen on a large size hard drive and the Zune seems to be the only system (apart from Ipods) with large drives nowadays and I don't particularly like the Ipod software (ie. Itunes - my kids have Ipods) Last edited by ngc1967 : November 16th, 2007 at 06:42 AM. |

What makes you consider a Zune?
I got a Zune 80 yesterday to replace my H360... I used Rockbox on my H360 and the functionality of the Zune's firmware compared to Rockbox is highly lacking, but really, which device's firmware isn't pathetic compared to Rockbox? The only thing I really miss is that I have my music sorted into folders not only by artist and album, but all my Country music in one folder, techno in another, etc... So going to JUST artist/album/genre is kind of annoying.

I went from my iRiver H10 with Rockbox to the Zune 80gig. Unfortunately the H10 was basically dead. Could barely hold a charge, and I had more music than it could fit. And although the move from Rockbox to the Zune firmware is a bit different, I must say I'm starting to really like the Zune. Probably even more than the iRiver. One bit of advice, make sure you look around though before getting the Zune, if you do. I don't mind the software, I actually use that as my default media player now, but many seem to have a problem with it.
