New to community, and new X20

Hello to everyone.
I am new to this great community and I am really satisfied with it's content.

I ordered a new X20 and in 2 days I'll have it, so I decided to read some more about it in order not to do something bad. I have read some things that I am not exactly sure and I'd like to ask for them.

1)Iriver Plus: X20 will come with the iriver plus 3. Are there any newer version that I should get? Where are they?

2)Firmware: It will come with v. 1.2 and I 've seen some complaints and bugs at v. 1.3 and 1.4 (read this post). Does smoother font compares with the unresponsive system?
Where can I find the latest firmware with a complete list of fixes and bugs?
Should I use iriver plus or firmware updater (I've read that only the last install the v. 1.4)?

3)Video: iriver plus 3 offers a nice convertion machine but vDub is better and faster. Am I right? Is there any tutorial using VDub with iriver x20.

4)Rockbox:I 've read about the rockbox project and I am really glad about this effort. Will there be a firmware for the x20 in the future? Can they compete iriver's firmware?

I hope not to bother you with my first big post!
Looking forward for some feedback.

Welcome to MR,
I'm no expert on X20's but I've been around long enough to hopefully be able tot help you out.
1. Unless I+3 isn't working properly then don't worry about updating.
2. No idea sorry.
3. Many people have taken to using iriverter, with a custom profile. Click here for Clieos custom X20 profile.zip
4. I'm not 100% sure but I think rockbox is for HD players, X20 is flash.

Hope this helps in some way,
Mattman.

That's not the reason why it hasn't been ported, it's just a coincidence.
The reason it won't have been ported is a combination of limited demand and that, more than likely, none of the developers own an X20.

Whatever the form of memory used, it's still accessed in the same manner.
Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to fit SSDs into HDD-based DAPs.
