Name of the battery
I'm looking for another battery, to switch them when there's no energy around.
I tried it at some shops in my town (electronic shops, with a small collection of mp3-players etc), but none recognized the battery. Does anyone know the type of battery which the x20 uses? DOes the battery have a name? |

The battery is manufactured by a Korean company called Joytoto. I think they actually OEM the whole X20 (which is why X20 looks so different from other iriver models). You can see the picture of the battery at Cnet Asia. Another picture can be found at pocketables.net (battery life section). The battery is actually sold by iriver Japan.

Here's a little hint: i ran out of battery on a trip and i used a Nokia BL-C5 (i think) battery. Works swimmingly

Sorry if i was wrong about the mAh capacity but i read an article about battery life in a magazine and there were some complaints about the mAh being too high and frying their tools because of that. All of them specified using the same kind of battery, right contacts, right voltage but way higher capacity. I don't feel like trying anything since i don't have enough money for another one.

Capacity should be fine so long as there's a decent charge control circuit on the device.
Obviously, a higher capacity battery can either provide a similar current for a longer time or a larger current for a similar length of time, so there is the scope from problems. But any half-way decent electronic device should be fine. |

I can concur the BL-5C is supposed to be an 850mAh battery standard, and is smaller than the X20 battery, and will fit in the X20.
I just acquired an unloved Nokia 6230i from my gf, and I really wanted to test this. I was hoping the X20 battery would fit the phone, because then I would have a bonus free AC fast charger (i.e. USB voltage). The phone's battery life seems to be half what it should be, granted it is nearly a couple years old. I might get a longer life one for the phone if available, and alternate batteries, having one spare charged for the X20 on those travel occassions. I'd like to find a newer phone that can use the X20's battery, then I'd have a flimsy excuse for interoperability and a new toy PS: The only time I have run out of battery was going half-charged into an 8hr voice recording test of the X20, rare and one-off. The phone's voice recorder seems to be heaps better than the X20's from a 1-second test.

thank you pal!
I've only found some british sites who offer the battery, the price is about 9,99 pounds and like 8 Pounds shipping. 23 Euros or something. This sucks. thats the problem with the x20, in australia you can almost get everything everywhere for your x20. I am not your buddy guy! I am not your guy buddy! lol |
