Hello everybody,
I bought my X20 yesterday. After unpacking it and playing a bit with it's original movies, pictures and one mp3 file, I installed the iriver 3 and connected the player to my computer. The software asked if I want to update the firmware, which I did. Everything is working well, but i was wondering if anyone found an actual list of bugs fixed by this new firmware. By its code (1.02) i believe there are some very minor fixes, but it would be nice to know what changes inside your toy. Anyway, very pleased with it. I own a Sansa e100 (which I broke by accident) and an older innoAx-imx 330 (very good and small player for 2004 when i bought it) (which died on me). The only thing that I don't like is the headset, the one from Sansa was much comfortable for my ears. |

The only page i can find that has any information regarding the firmware is the japan site
http://www.iriver.co.jp/support/download.php http://translate.google.com/translat...d%26keyword%3d The list of fixes translated to english from ver 1 to 1.02 are * The trouble which was corrected About the sound quality setting of line input and FM radio sound recording Bit rate when recording as description below low correcting the trouble where high has become opposite Before the correcting After the correcting It is low: 128Kbps In: 96Kbps High: 64Kbps High: 128Kbps In: 96Kbps It is low: 64Kbps * OFF” ““normality playback” correction of the trouble which is inscribed Oh and oatbaa as far as far as i can tell ver 1.02 is the latest. I dont know how or where you got 1.03 iriver plus says 1.02 is still the latest and the japan site has no mention of it either. When 1.02 was released via iriver plus it was already on the above website |

I have noticed this about v1.04 though it may just be me.
Player OS seems to be running a bit slower and button presses need to be more "firm" in order to get a response.

Just registered to say that video support has taken a step back from 1.02 to 1.04; i encoded en episode of south park into
Video: XVID 320x240 23.98fps 448Kbps [Video 0] Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 44100Hz stereo 128Kbps [Audio 1] and it worked flawlessly on 1.02, but on 1.04 sometimes parts of another frame appear on the current one (mainly on the bottom of the screen). It doesn't make the video unwatchable, but it's a real shame that an upgrade makes things worse. Also sometimes the scrolling text in the now playing screen flickers Is there a way to go back to 1.02 until another update is released? Also I was wondering why iRiver Plus 3 is updating only to 1.02, while the update tool goes to 1.04? Maybe it's because of these problems and iRiver doesn't want people to get the same trouble? Oh and by the way; I updated while the player was in MSC mode, does that actually matter? <-- EDIT: Nevermind, just noticed it doesn't even work in MTP mode :P EDIT2: More problems: The OS is indeed alot slower, sometimes songs even lag when you're going through the menu's ! Perhaps you should try to email them about this issue: http://www.iriver.com/html/etc/contact01.asp
As far as i know there is also the problem with Bass frequences :s |

Oh well we'll just have to wait for the 1.05 firmware. Hopefully it's better.
Also, 1.04 if you'll have noticed is released only a few days after the iriver Firmware Updater 2.5.0.0. Perhaps they stopped supporting firmware updates via iriver Plus 3 for the X20.

I'm happy with version 1.02 as well...if there's a chance I'll have problems with 1.04 then I'll wait....
and it looks kinda fishie that they don't support firmware upgrades through iriver 3, and they don't even say why....or if that is the case oh well... later edit: Could we maybe make a sticky note with firmware upgrades and known (if any) bug fixes, and how player behaves? Yeah, I am having trouble with 1.04
It has really slowed down the menus, often causes the movies to be a bit out of synch with their sound (this didn't happen before), and also (although I may be imagining it) seems to have made the buzzing on the bass worse. And that's on a fairly decent pair of Sennheiser canal buds. Gah. |

Hi, you sould contact iRiver ... the more people contact them, the faster firmware will be upgraded (i think so...)
If you want the link to contact them, look on page one of this post. Concerning my iRiver, i'm still on 1.02. Did you try turning back to firmware 1.02 ? |
