x20 8GBP pre-purchase questions

I am planning to purchase the x20 8GB and have several pre-purchase questions, please help

a) where can one download firmware updates?
b) is there a risk of losing contents during when updating the x20 w/ firmware?
c) can one delete song titles by menu options?

Welcome to Misticriver, hope you enjoy it.

a) The iriver website would almost certainly have it, if not I'm sure someone else can give you a direct link
b) Only if you format player after your update, which is recommended. All you have to do is back up your stuff and this won't be a problem.
c) Not sure sorry!

Hope my limited answers helped...

I agree with eagle69....
A) The iRiver Plus3 program that comes with the player will look for the new firmware and program updates automatically from the net. Mine came with v3.2.1.0 but when it upgraded itself to v3.2.5.0 it didn't work properly....missing buttons on the left hand side.....so I uninstalled and am using the original version. The only trade off is that I have to deny it internet access.....update in the future will be by manual install instigated by me..not the iRiver Plus3 software.

B) It shouldn't wipe or corrupt your files during firmware update but as with any bit of computer equipment...back-up everything that you don't want to lose!!! If it is not backed up then it was not important in the first place. My player upgraded the firmware with no problems and took only a couple of minuets.

C) As far as I can tell you are unable to delete individual files via the player. It does give you the option to format and delete EVERYTHING at once....not particularly useful (IMHO)......unless you have problems and want to go back to a pristine condition.

Hope this assists and feel free to ask anything else.

C) I hope they add this later on. It was particularly useful for getting rid of unwanted recordings (Like on my T10)

Thanks for the info -

I'm looking forward to purchase an x20 8GB in Hong Kong.

My Sony NW-HD3 has served me well for two years but its a headache to manage the playlist with Sony Sonic software.

Memory-Build-Up

What I've encountered with my Sony HD based MP3 player over time is memory-build-up, meaning; in a folder of 900 song titles, I am more likely to hear the same songs in a course of time than other song titles.

Is memory-build-up possible or likely w/ the iRiver x20 8GB flash memory based player?

I've had this indeed on my previous player, a samsung 1 GB with 400 songs. I don't get the idea some songs are played more often on the X20 @400 songs 4GB.
