X20 improvements?
Just started this thread to see what kind of things do other X20 owners think that iRiver can improve in their future firmware updates. Hopefully someone from iRiver will actually see this thread...........
1) Improved SQ 2) Flash Game support (aka clix) 3) Wallpaper support

Umm... Do you not understand.
The clix2 and x20 are made different for a reason. The clix2 has almost everything you'd want and costs a hell of a lot more. The x20 is a budget player, that doesnt have some of the features and UI that the clix2 has, thus it is a lot cheaper! If you want those things, just get the clix. Its simple enough and its just an upgrade. The only things the x20 has over the clix2, is the replaceable battery and memory card. And even then, the cards are only 2gigs at the moment and the battery's last a very long time. Your pretty much saying, turn the x20 into the clix2. =p

i'm not saying that, just that the upgrades you mentioned are all available on the next level up player.. the clix2. Maybe you should be asking the clix2 to get a micro sd slot

Few things that i would love to see added or improved would be
Added: Alarm feature, it already has time and date, so would not be very hard to include some form of alarm feature. Option to turn of LCD completely when playing. (increase battery life) Currently it just turns the backlight off, but in low light you can still see the LCD on. It is unreadable anyway when the backlight is off so i don’t understand why the LCD is left on still. Viewable icon or text on the player when the player is locked, eg along the top Viewable icons for current volume level, eg along the top Icon or test viewable when the player is locked, along the top as well. Support for micro SDHC support for 4gb micro sd cards. Fixed / Improved: Line in / Radio record quality EQ presents Remove EQ distortion Improve overall sound quality (if possible) still happy with it but TXT file play back, it has a TXT folder already on the device but cannot work it out. Maybe a few games if possible Thinks that’s bout it. Last edited by paul.sullivan : April 6th, 2007 at 07:17 AM. Reason: Typo |

Good thread.
1. Sort the EQ's out. 2. Clip the output - WAY to LOUD - it needs a smart Volume setting like my Zen Micro had to remove the buzzing that seems to be naffing everyone off. 3. Ability to change backgrounds would be nice. 4. And from above, may as well have a setting that shuts the screen off. 80% of the time it is in my pocket, the battery life is phenominal, but there is always room for a bit more. |

I wonder when is Rockbox going to be available...........
I saw on the rockbox forum that somebody has already started taking the X20 apart and posted the specs up.

@nsx_23
Yes I agree. Though implementing it seems difficult once one thinks about it. Every border and margin has to be adjusted and the spin menu redesigned.

1. The earphones you used were bad. Bad earphones often produce a crackling bass when the volume is set too high. or 2. The 60hz setting in the X20 equalizer is set to +3 or higher. When I do that, I hear alot of distortion in the Bass. Unfortunately it is also true that the bass is a little weak when the equalizer is set to "Normal". I found a solution though, kind of. Put the 60hz and 360hz setting on +1 or +2, and lower the 6khz and 14khz settings to -1 or -2. This should make the Bass a bit louder without making the higher frequencies deafening. You may need to increase the volume to make sure the high frequencies are just as loud as they were before though. Again, I am no audiophile by any means (I barely know anything about this stuff) and this is just something that made my music sound slightly better. Something similar might work for you too. Note that distortion never seems to appear when you put the 60hz setting on +1 or +2 despite the volume level. At least not on my Creative EP-630 earphones. |

At +2 on 60Hz equalizer, i can't hear any cracking noise in sound ...
But as i've already said, i advise you to contact iRiver support directly. The iriver Japan website proposes to its cutomers to submite their enquiries about irivers players development, unfortunately European and US iRiver webstites don't proposes such things ... so we have to contact them directly with this link: http://www.iriver.com/html/etc/contact01.asp |
