Could be a number of reasons, people have bought another player or they are just lurking.
But look at the positive, no posts mean no problems!

I bought my T10 2GB more than a year ago after considering some Cowon DAPs (G3, U2, U3) and both the Iriver T10 and T30, finally decided to go with the T10 for sturdiness and capacity - almost needless to say I'm very very happy with my purchase.
In many ways it's almost the perfect player I wanted: music only with great sound quality, durable, runs on regular batteries (VERY important for me), good battery life, ogg support, small but not tiny, radio, UMS and nice screen, I also like the button navigation which is better then joystick IMO. The only major drawbacks for me are the use of the battery when transferring file instead of USB, the danger of bricking it on firmware updates and maybe the headphones jack placement. On iAudiophile.net there are many reports of G3's that are falling apart, which is a shame since otherwise they looked like good players. The lack of traffic on this forum might indicate that the T10 has a much better build quality I still lurk here from time to time, though, hoping maybe for a new firmware update (unlikely). Sadly in the last year it became more and more difficult to find a good player which runs on regular batteries to the point that the only models on the market, I believe, are the T50 and T60. I guess the crowd has spoken. Me? I like to buy things that LAST. So I'm planning on keeping my T10 for some years to come... Last edited by Shualichi_ : April 30th, 2008 at 04:51 AM. |

I bought two T10 2GB players. I liked the first one so much I bought a second one. I was afraid the company would discontinue the player and I wanted to make sure I had a backup especially because I listen to audiobooks while I am a co-rider on the motorcycle. I use the armband that has velcro and hook it to the velcro on my motorcycle jacket. So far, I haven't lost it! I also can change the battery while riding on the motorcycle. If I had to to use a built in rechargeable battery I wouldn't be able to finish my books on the long rides we take. The T10's shape is wonderful because I can use the buttons easily while riding even with my gloves on! I do use rechargeable batteries when I can, but lately those do not seem to hold a charge very long. I changed the battery use to "rechargeable"in the player but it doesn't seem to matter.

Bought my T60 out of fear that AAA or AA powered players were going the route of the Doh-Doh bird. And it turns out, they are.
Bought it for the capacity and the weight, for backpacking. 2oz for the player, headphones, two lithium AAA, and homemade case. Steve |

My two cents
I have a 2GB T10. I like it for the recording, UMS, FM Radio (critical!), AA battery, sound quality. I wish it was gapless between tracks. Other than that, I have no complaints.
My perfect player would have the following: - FM Radio - Voice recording - UMS (i.e., file transfer like to a flash drive) - Replaceable battery (AA or AAA best, but even a proprietary swapable, like on a cell phone would be okay) - Gapless playback - Bookmarks for podcasts - Replaygain (like the foobar2000 add-in) - 80GB+ |

wow
I didn't even know the T10 came in orange. I wish my batteries listed that long. Mine don't last more than about 25 hours (very good) which is about two average audio books. I imagine they would last longer if would quit continually turning the player off and on, reversing and forwarding, and adjusting the volume when I listen to my audio books. It seems I am always getting interrupted and lose my place. If I would remember to look at the track or when I do look at the track remember where I was, I suppose the batteries would last longer. |

Hello, I'm a proud owner of a 2 gigabyte T10 in shiny black.
To be honest, I just love this thing, I listen to it during my way to work and back home, adding about two hours each working day, plus 2 hours twice a week during training in the gym. It is small, sturdy and its sound quality is awesome. Also using it while running or biking. It is a piece of technology I would really miss if it broke down. I managed it to get 2 more via ebay for my parents, and both share my opinion about the t10. I'm really sorry they are not built any more. The long playing time with a normal AA battery is the biggest pro of this baby. (Besides the integrated microfone & fm tuner with recording function, and its kick-ass sound, of course) I have to change batteries twice a month maximum. And the 2 gigs give me the chance to add loads of songs to it, about 400 songs is quite enough for a variety of different moods and styles for every situation. No problems with it 'til now. Hope it will stay this way. Think we could get old together, till death will part us I don't need the new player generation's features like film watching, pictures and so on. Movies have to be watched on big screen, and pictures have to be printed and put on a wall or something. Furthermore this stuff sucks loads of memory and energy. I just want to listen to music with it, for the other things I got my laptop or full HD television. And in making noise, this device is just a full 100% big hit. Enough written, gotta listen to a bit of kick-ass metal before going to bed. Good night folks, and thank god if you are a proud owner of the T10, it is the biggest thing since the invention of the clothes-peg Lars |

I've just recently acquired a relatively new t10 2GB in black (the second DAP I've ever owned - before that I owned a Sony NW-E105 but the toggle switch stopped working after a while, and it's now permanently 'on hold') and I'm loving the experience. I originally had my eye on a t50 but even that's been discontinued (why so soon?!). Anyway, reports about the poor joystick put me off the t60 (in addition to its poor battery performance). Goggling led me to the t10 and then this forum.
I was a bit apprehensive about getting one at first, especially with the UMS problem, but all these problems have resolved themselves (much to my relief). Like other owners of the t10, I'm only prepared to invest in DAPs that are powered by AA or AAA batteries. 1GB is usually enough for me but 2GB is perfect (I usually listen to music transferred from other sources - CDs, flashdrives, etc.). My Sony (which also had the drag 'n' drop facility) was very basic compared this, so I'm enjoying having the extra functions such as voice recording, FM radio, timer and alarm, a colour screen and a comprehensive menu system. My only complaint, so far, is the non-existence of gapless (even my Sony NW-E105, which came out shortly after the t10, had this). Let's just hope that, one day, there'll be some firmware to correct this problem. |

i've had a t30 for years now (see my join date!
and it is great. i dooo tend to forget which buttons to press but that is my great age! (nearing 50) i think it looks so cute (green) and small - but the very best thing about it is the sound. its great - and this out of the box with no firmware updates -so far. however i'm going to have to update cos it won't work with my new vista/wmp11 laptop. |

II just couldn't get with it today at all -- had a rough day today and dropped my T10 2GB three times -- once on the hard floor and twice on the carpet.
But guess what? It still works!!!! I don't think I have ever had a player that could take that kind of abuse. Now if I could just quit dropping that as well as everything else. Maybe tomorrow will be better. |

Perhaps just an mp3 killer.... :)

My ONLY concern with owning a T10 series player....is that well..er...I didn't buy five of them when I had the chance!!!! They are so reliable , that I now just load up the three of them that I presently own--- one with Jazz, the second with Easy Listening, and the third with Classical. This player has been with the usage of, the BEST piece of musical reproduction equipment I have ever owned. For ease of use, bullet-proof craftsmanship, intuitive menus, extreme portability, and that you can use replaceable AA batteries on-the-fly. Only two small batteries as standby in your shirt pocket gives you 80 hours of in-field power!!! Since buying my first one, the one gig unit, there has been a T10 hanging around my neck each and every day. I can think of no other purchase that I have ever made that has had such a musical impact upon my daily life. Nothing! Even my car stereo (in dash unit's CD and tape option) doesn't get touched anymore since I can plug in my T10 with close to 400 songs sampled at 192 kbps. If they want to jump-start Iriver once more...bring back what sold like hotcakes...the T10. Hey..even one better...come out with a T10 at let's say 8 gigs! I'd buy one as soon as it hit the market. Iriver...are you listening?!? Last edited by Sesquash : July 18th, 2008 at 11:43 AM. Reason: typo, and after-thought |

It's been over a month since I acquired my 2GB t10 and I'm over the moon about it!
Its performance is amazing and I love being able to wear it on the belt loop of my trousers / jeans for ease of access to the controls (who needs a fiddlely remote!). As for the lack of gapless playback, I've only been inconvenienced by this about 5-10% of the time, so I've learnt to live with it. I've also dropped it on a couple of occasions (once on carpet and another on a wooden floor) but there are no marks or scratches from those brief moments of carelessness (much to my relief!). My only reservation is the play button - it's not as responsive as I'd like it to be (but that usually means I have to attempt to press it twice to either play or pause what I was listening to) but, then again, it could just be me being too gentle with it. I've been thinking of buying a second t10 but have come to realise that, since getting mine, they've become almost impossible to find (whereas before it was just difficult). I feel blessed to have found an 'as new' model when I did. Whenever I'm commuting with it, it's guaranteed that at least one individual will admire it from afar. It's been said that the colour display was a pointless feature but I disagree - it enhances the overall quality of the player and gives it a more luxurious vibe to those not in the know. I can't think of any other battery operated mp3 player that's better than the t10 and will continue to search for a second one for back-up. |

I can't believe I have had mine for over 18 months and despite the drops and bangs, my T10 still works like it is new. I mainly use it for audio books and the radio. It player is a little a heavier than I would like, but I wouldn't trade it for any other player. I use rechargeable batteries the majority of time. But when I don't have a rechargeable battery available, I can use a disposable! Nice feature!!!! This battery feature is the best because I always have a working player! And.. The battery cover is still there! I noticed that on many of my friends MP3 players, the battery cover seems to "missing."
The forward, backward, and volume symbols are little worn, but I am so hard on that button I am in awe that any symbol exists. I, too, like the color display. It's kind of "cute." I am so glad I bought two T10s! I bought the second one eBay a while back. I didn't realize that they were so hard come by, so I guess I was lucky. Several of my friends, after hearing me rave about the player, have "hinted" that I should sell the second. I doubt it will ever happen. One of my friends bought a T10GB after he saw how excited I was with mine. One feature he uses, that I have never tried, is the radio recording. There is a program he can't listen to when at work. He said he sets the player's timer; the player turns on, and records the program. I don't really understand iRivers thinking when it discontinued the model! I suppose it is because they think people have to have all this extra stuff that are on the players these days. All I want is a basic player and THIS IS IT! I have a different player I use for all the other junk -- except I have only used that player once! I didn’t like it when I ran out of power and I couldn’t use it until I recharged the battery! Maybe if we can keep this thread going and get lots of input, iRiver will bring the T10 back! |

Hello out there.
I`m actually firing my T10 2GB with 2 2700mAh batteries done by VARTA, and they keep me going for about 2 weeks each. I however wonder whether somebody has tested the eneloops on this machine? I bought them for my photo camera, and they did quite a difference by lasting up to twice as long as the 2400mAh stuff I used before. But I need all 4 cells for my camera (2 as a set and 2 others to change), so I don`t have a set left for my player. I wonder whether someone out there ever tried these beasts in a T10, and if a change would be a further improvement in playback time. Beside this, I agree with you, folks. The T10 is just GREAT. The only improvement would indeed be a larger memory, and gapless replay. But who cares too much. My 2GB version houses enough music to please me for days. Before I forget, if anyone out there likes industrial music, Trent Reznor kicks out his new longplayer The Slip as a free download on nin.com. Really worth a try. Good night Lars |

I really, really wish I hadn't lost my T10 in Hobby last new year's.
kajero - eneloops are Sanyo rechargeable batteries.

I looked at the eneloops on Amazon. I think I may try them. They have a lot of positive reviews.
The energizer rechargeables I have are worthless -- they didn't last at all. I bought some cheapo Radio Shack batteries on clearance a year and half ago that lasted a really, really long time, but now the batteries are dead and Radio Shack doesn't make them any more. I am still glad I have the option of disposable or rechargeable batteries for the T10. It means my player is always charged! |
