Angry T10: rebooting itself and File check error

I have the following problem with my T 10 1 GB FM:
while trying to put new mp3s on my T 10 , it ran out of battery. I changed the battery and then i recognised many files/folders with very long, cryptic names in the Explorer ( i´m running Windows XP SP2), i deleted all these files with my WMP 10 and stupid me - also the .hex-file(?)! So in the WMP i only saw these 3 empty folders: Media, Data and Record - i think, nothing else.

So now everytime I try to turn on the player it shows T 10 1 GB, then shows the time and the battery loading status bar, but says "File Check Error" and keeps rebooting and rebooting itself.
When trying to connect it to the computer, the T 10 says "Creating DB" but it is not recognised by the WMP nor by the Explorer.

Is there anything i can do or did I damage the firmware???

Thank you for your help!

I'd try this...

1. Turn off your computer, and with the T10 turned on, and connected via the USB cable, turn back on your computer, and let it 'poll' what is connected to it. That might capture the T10. Then, I would use the T10 Firmware updater to REAPPLY the latest firmware. That will format the T10 and leave you in a virgin firmware state.

still not working

Thank you for your answer -

i tried as you said, but still the player is not recognized by the PC - while connected to the USB it constantly says Creating DB... but that´s it.
Disconnected the same problem - file check error and continually rebooting!

Has anybody else a solution or experienced the same problem?

I would try this. Have WMP 10 running, and then turn on your T10 that has already been connected to your computer via the USB cable. If WMP can capture the unit, use the FORMAT command within WMP 10 (far right drop down menu at the top) to have WMP 10 format the player. Then you will be once more, good to go. I would then use the firmware updater program to reapply v.1.77. See if that works, and then report your results.

I'm having the same problem.

I am getting a "File Check Error" message every time I turn it on, and when it is plugged into the computer I see "creating DB..." but the computer doesn't recognise it. I have tried many different methods to no avail, and was wondering if there was a way to clear my iRiver of any corrupted data easily, because I can't reach the settings manual or update firmware with the computer. :/
