Lithium AAA with T60?

I've emailed iriver twice about this, and gotten two different answers. First they say sure, you can use lithium AAA with the T60. Then no, you shouldn't.

Anyone using them? Does the T60 handle the initial higher voltage ok?

For normal use I use rechargeables, but I'd like to use lithiums for backpacking (lite weight, long life).

Thanks
Steve

it shouldn't affect the T60....i once was in the same position with my old iFP-795 (which uses AA batteries good coz of great battery life but bad coz of the extra fatness over a AAA battery). I started off using normal batteries, but found the battery life appalling...so i decided to try the Lithium batteries...popped them in and found they worked perfect and still did a whole 2 weeks later...(of course they do die in the end) but the battery life was soo much better but then i found it reached a point where it would suddenly die out rather quickly...

and so i ended up getting tired of being caught out with a battery dying out of nowhere...and switched to AA rechargeables...and my god..these were so much better in every aspect...'scept for the charging time....the battery life was extended even more...the die-off rate was much more predictable and they also looked better...but there was a definate weight disadvantage...they weighed approx 1.5 times a normal non-rechargeable AA battery...
