T20 FM 1GB broken?
Hi everybody,
I just got a T20 FM 1GB as a present. When I connect it to USB it looks like dead. It doesn´t appear in the device manager of WIN XP and the desplay stays dark. I already upgraded to MediaPlayer 10, but the Player ist not recognized at all. Even on a different computer it is not recognized at all. Have you any ideas or is it broken? Thanks in advance Hejsan :=) |

Did you turn the player on after connecting it to the USB? T-series players still run on their internal battery when connected to the USB port, they do not run on USB power. The screen will stay dark until the player is turned on after connecting.

Hi,
thank you for your answer. I tried to turn it on, but still no success :=( The device manager doesn´t even show that the Iriver is connected. Also when I disconnected it from USB and try to turn it on it doesn´t show anything. I tried all buttons, but no reaction. Any other ideas? Greetings |

Hmmm ... other ideas ...
1. Does your Windows XP have Service Pack 2 installed? 2. Is the T20's battery charged? T20 was the only T-series player with a built-in lithium ion battery. You charge it by connecting to the USB on a computer with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 10 installed. Check the T20 manual for complete charging instructions. 3. Did anyone happen to do a firmware upgrade on the T20 while it's battery was very low? Doing that can "brick" a T-series player, in other words it can permanently break it until repaired by iriver. 4. Was the T20 purchased as a used or refurbished item, or purchased from EBay or a private seller? If so, it is possible the built-in lithium ion battery was already dead prior to purchase. "Dead" meaning completely spent ... unable to accept any more charges. T20 is an older player, and it was discontinued before the exchangeable-battery T10 and T30 players were discontinued. At this point it would be unusual to see a brand new T20 sold at regular retail. Having the player not turn on at all even when it is not connected to the USB is not a good sign. Sounds like a dead battery or a bricked player. Last edited by ShyAnne : September 26th, 2007 at 06:52 AM. |
