Help Needed For T10 1GB Player! PLEASE!

Hello. I just got a used iRiver T10 1 GB MP3 Player off of eBay in the mail today, and it's already having a problem. The unit turns on and recognized the songs that were already on it, but when I plugged the USB cord into the MP3 Player it starts malfunctioning.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 Pentium 4, 2.0 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM, and I am running Windows XP Pro with SP2, and I have Windows Media Player 11. When I have the USB cord plugged in to my computer and my iRiver T10, as soon as I turn on the MP3 Player a little window pops up stating: "Found New hardware - MTP Device." But that is all that it will do. Nothing more happens, and that little pop-up balloon just stays being displayed on the bottom right-hand corner of my computer.

After sitting here for about 5 minutes waiting for something to start processing, or for at least something to happen, nothing does actually happen, and I then unplugged the USB cord from the MP3 Player, and then this pop-up balloon shows up: "A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly."

I went in to my computer's 'Device Manager,' and it shows something connected to the USB port, but it is seemingly going through some sort of error process, as it is apparently constantly refreshing itself for some reason. It just keeps opening and closing that device connection over and over, and will not stop; nor actually complete the process of acknowledging/recognizing the USB-connected device. And when I close out the little pop-up balloon showing the "Found New hardware - MTP Device," it just keeps reappearing over and over, no matter how many times I close it; as though it's just continuously processing the initial recognition of the devinc (MP3 Player unit).

I have tired 2 different USB cords, and have plugged them both in to the front and rear USB ports on my computer. I have since gone through the 'Settings' on the T10 unit, and reset everything that I could, and nothing has helped my computer to fully recognize the iRiver unit. I have gone in to the 'Advanced' settings on the T10, and I have selected the 'Load Default' option, and also the 'Format' option, and gone through both processes where the unit will go through some "rebooting" process, and nothing has actually helped my computer to recognize the unit. And after the first time that I went through the 'Format' option, all of the songs that were on the unit were deleted, so now there are apparently no files on the MP3 Player, and it has been "Formatted," and has "Rebooted" several times.

After all of this, still all I can get is the initial pop-up balloon showing: "Found New hardware - MTP Device." Does anyone have any help/ideas/advice/suggestions at all? Or is this damn thing ruined? And are there are suggestions as to a way to contact iRiver and ask them for their help/advice/suggestions? Is their e-mail support reliable and quick? Is there a number to call and speak to an actual human being?

Before I forget, I must say that I did download and install several Firmware upgrades/Drivers, and none of that helped, either.

I tried: "IRiverFirmwareUpdat er_V2.2.0.0[3]"
"IRiverFirmwareUpdat er_V2.2.0.0[6]"
"iriver_Firmware_Upd ater_Setup(2.5.0.0)"
"T_H10Jr_U10_N11_UMS _driver"

And none of those downloads/installs did anything to help my computer actually fully recognize my iRiver T10.

If anyone has anything in the way of help/advice that they could offer, I would really appreciate it. As I don't have a car, and I walk to and from work, and being able to listen to music while wlaking to and from work is much nicer than walking in silence. And, being that I just got this thing today, like 4 hours ago, I am very disappointed that it is not working right out of the packaging, like I had expected.

And if it may help, here is the eBay link to the exact unit that I won: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...4912&rd=1&rd=1

It's a blue iRiver T10 1Gb MP3 Player. And I would really appreciate some help getitng it to work properly.

Thanks very much for your time. I apologize for the ridiculously-long post.

P.S. If anyone would like to e-mail me some help/information, please feel free to, at billyjackaz@hotmail. com or billyjackaz@gmail.co m. Thanks!

You may have to reformat your player. I had to do that once. Search the T10 threads and you may find it. I think i even started it.
