Playing a directory.

Hi!

Is there a way to just tell the T10 "play all songs in this directory and any songs found in any subdirectories" as you would in any other modern, filesystem based player?

I'm possitive it's possible with the T10, I just don't know how.
It seems I have to actualy select an music file before it starts playing, how do I select a directory?

And no, playlists will not suffice; playlists are for players that do not support filesystems, I organize my music by using the filesystem and only use playlists when I want to mix genres.

The whole point of being able to modify the filesystem is so that you can organize songs with it, otherwise you might as well just buy an iPod and use iTunes, something I want to avoid since I prefer using the filesystem.

My player uses the 1.76 UMS firmware since I can't use MTP. (UMS is also just a lot smarter if you like filesystem tree hierarchies)

Warning: fearless rant ahead!

I have several rantings regarding the technical design of the software, but this bothers me the most.
How can it not have the ability to select a directory? It's basically the whole point
of using a filesystem to organise your music.

There's also the problem of the playlists using a binary format. It's so 80's, I don't know why iRiver has chosen to remain nearly three decades behind current technological development. Nor do I understand how Microsoft managed to bribe them into using MTP. UMS is just -better- in every aspect, especially if you support real playlist formats.

In a world where usability should be the main focus the vendors just invent new bullshit systems that makes their devices less usable. This is also true for cellphones and all small devices; while the hardware is getting better and the UI's get prettier, the actual usability is getting worse.

Maybe remove the animated, high resolution menus in favor of a usable playlist format and directory playback?
