iriver T 10 and XP Unkown device

Hi all, first time for a post. This is a doozy tho.

The T 10 comes up always as UNKNOWN DEVICE to this Win XP Pro with SP 2, all updates and WMP ver 10.

Tried all the fixes and read for 3 hours to no avail. *sniff sniff

nothing at all is using USB from the Asus P4P800 SE motherboard, with all drivers installed. Same results on my second computer.

The system is on a LAN here but the next drive after the optical drives is left open for camera/etc if needed.

T 10 works well in all modes and this P4 3.4Gig system runs like a charm.

This T 10 is or was to be a surprise gift to my wife. lol That is if I can get it working.

Any help for anyone would be appreciated. Dont know how to repay cept for a GIANT smile.

Try using a different USB cable.

well if your T10 firmware is the UMS version then try manually installing the driver for your player...you can get the driver for manual installation of your device on the iriver global site...hope this will help...

Thanks for a very quick reply.

I tried another USB cable and even another computer. Still get the USB error message "unknown device".

Installed WMP 11 and still no joy.

I looked for another driver for XP at site but only found firmwareupgrades.

This T 10 is a nice unit and works well out of the box. Very happy with it.

I read the tutorial re connection problems by Ted, however not sure where or if it applies to the ver 11 of player.

Thanks for the URL. Went and found a T10 driver. As per site instructions put the T10umd.inf file in C:\Windows\system 32\drivers. Fired up my T10, connected the USB and still get the error message, unkown device.

I am at a loss.........

I tried all the things from Ted. Installed SMP 11. Got driver from Devil's URL.

Still no joy.

Anyone please ???
