New T10 Firmware posted - 1.76 - pseudo gapless
FW 1.76 just posted for T10 (all flavors) - not sure all changes, but appears to have much less disruptive gaps between tracks, although not yet gapless.

That's pretty exciting. Here's hoping they continue to make progress.

Has the Fast Forward been Improved?
Hi all,
I use my T10 mainly for listening to audio books from my library. However, I find that fast forwarding is way too slow. I was hoping that someone had tried the lastest version to see if that feature was changed. |

If not done already, you could change the scan speed in "Settings" -> "Advanced" -> "Scan Speed"
|
|

|
You can also try the "study mode" feature.

Have you or anybody else found a 1.76 MTP firmware release note on what was fixed or added to within this release? If so, could you please paste a link in this thread. Thanks, Sesquash |

errr....it IS translated, no?
if not, here's what it says after google translation (I don't speak Japanese, sorry...): "Before doing firmware upgrade, please be sure to read. * When the firmware of T10 of errand is UMS version: It upgrades making use of iriver plus3. * When the firmware of T10 of errand is MTP version: It upgrades making use of Firmware Updater. Bug fix -Correction of the problem where the OGG file of specification is not played back -Correction of the problem which the sound flying makes the time of back light off -At the time of Recording→ power source off, correction of the problem which cannot do reservation sound recording. -Settings→ indication setting -> at scroll speed after “the Horizontal” setting the case of the scroll, correction of the problem where one letter [me] is not indicated " |

I guess I let my hopes get ahead of my brain . . .
Thanks for the clarification regarding changes in 1.76. I've been waiting for iRiver to finally provide gapless playback that I must have imagined improvement. Looks like minor bug fixes. Hope more comes.

I have a T10 (1 gig) version is 1.04 and I can't see the voice recordings on my computer (dell 4550) when I hook the T10 to the computer even though I know they are there. Do I need to gradually upgrade to v1.7????
In the history of the upgrades the earliest one I find is v1.53 US which is item #555 page 4 do I need to go to there first and then to 1.7??? [actually tried to do this but can't seem to get the t10 to upgrade. I get the window where it asks if I want to upgrade and I select yes. It stays on for about 4 seconds and then turns off. ] joseph makas@nc.rr.com please help. |

Firmware updates clarifications
Holy cow!, now there are aprox. 50 entries for the 1.76 firmware on http://nyaochi.sakura.ne.jp/iriverupdate/
Could someone please explain the naming system behind the different versions? From what I gather: "T10 (...)" = .zip file "T10 Firmware" = .hex file only KOR = korea JAP/JPN = Japan FRE = French(?) EST = Australia CNS = ? LAT = ? UNK = United Kingdom(?) T10P = Pure T10E = ? (.ini file includes both "_N_" and no "_N_" sections) T10 = Non-Pure(?) T10N = Non-Pure(?) UM_OK = ? UM_NO = ? N_ENG/N_LAT etc. = Non-Pure(?) T10Blues(directory) = Non-2GB models(?) Thanks, S. Last edited by Shualichi_ : February 20th, 2007 at 05:41 AM. |

I don't know the file name convention. I have a T10 2G and I use UMS version (I don't like MTP version). I always use the firmware file named T10N.HEX inside the zip file for my T10. I was told the firmware file T10.HEX is not for a 2G model. Besides, by examining the INF file, you may also get some hints about the firmware file. The local firmware version (described by something like LAT/JAP/FRE/...) will set the default display language to the firmware after flashed. But you can still change to your desired language later. But I am not sure if the local version has localized settings for the radio functions.

It looks like there's some additional firmware nameing going on.
An identifier like "0x4102_0x1113_N_ENG " would indicate a MTP firmware package. 0x4102_0x1113 is the USB id for a T10-1G, MTP (the UMS firmware has the identifier 0x4102_0x1013). "N" is for Non-Pure (has FM) - "P" indicates Pure (no FM). Then a region identifier. T10N is for the 2Gig model. Also, these old conventions may have changed. The zip file: T10_ENG_UM_OK.ZIP .. would have indicated T10-1G, English, UMS, Radio. The firmware name inside is T10.HEX, which is recognized by a UMS T10 (T10_MTP.HEX for the MTP firmware). But installing this had the unpleasant feature of converting my 1.75 UMS player to a 1.76 MTP player. Yech! Skimming out the files, the Korean ones are: http://www.iriverplus.com/tools/... MTP/T/T10Blues/T10Blues_0x4102_0x11 20_N_KOR.ZIP MTP/T/T10E/T10E_0x4102_0x1133_N _KOR.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1113_N_ KOR.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1117_N_ KOR.ZIP UMS/T/T10Blues/T10Blues_KOR_UM_OK.Z IP UMS/T/T10E/T10E_KOR_UM_OK.ZIP UMS/T/T10/T10_KOR_UM_OK.ZIP and English http://www.iriverplus.com/tools/... MTP/T/T10Blues/T10Blues_0x4102_0x11 20_N_ENG.ZIP MTP/T/T10E/T10E_0x4102_0x1133_N _ENG.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1113_EN G.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1113_N_ ENG.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1113_P_ ENG.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1117_N_ ENG.ZIP MTP/T/T10/T10_0x4102_0x1117_P_ ENG.ZIP UMS/T/T10Blues/T10Blues_ENG_UM_OK.Z IP UMS/T/T10E/T10E_ENG_UM_OK.ZIP UMS/T/T10/T10_ENG_UM_OK.ZIP UMS/T/T10/T10_PURE_ENG_UM_NO.Z IP Looking at /etc/udev/rules.d/60-libmtp.rules, the T10Blues = 4102_1120 = T10 2G MTP (T10N_MTP.HEX) T10E 4102_1133 = ?? (T10E_MTP.HEX) anyone have one? T10 4102_1113 = T10 1G MTP (T10_MTP.HEX, T10_MTP2.HEX ?) T10 4102_1117 = T10 512M MTP (T10_MTP.HEX, T10_MTP2.HEX ?) Something weird - some packages have two firmware images. Anyone know why? And why does UMS/T/T10/T10_ENG_UM_OK.ZIP change my player from UMS to MTP? |

Thanks, OrthoB, for clarifying alot of this issue.
Also found the following thread: http://www.misticriver.net/archive/i...p/t-34354.html subsequently looked at the head_route_firmware. inf and T10_ENG_UM_OK.ZIP doesn't show up as a cross (ums<->mtp) firmware so no help from there... S. |

I've tried loading 1.76 again, and this time it worked (stayed UMS). But I tried the update on the 19th, and the Firmware page now shows the "Last Update" as 22-Feb! So it looks like iRiver has re-pushed corrected firmware packages. Downloading from the same URL resulted in a different package checksum, and this time it worked!.
BTW - that thread really helped me. That master .inf file makes it fairly clear what each firmware is for (and the cross MTP <--> UMS firmware!). |
