Black 2 GB T10 now supported!
I just used my FIRMWARE UPDATER to update my Black 2GB from v1.71 to v1.72

Does anybody know what is different in v.1.72?

Also, you can now change via the updater from MTP to UMS and vice versa.

I can't get the Firmware Updater to work on my 2GB T10. I'm using v1.50. What version of the Firmware Updater are you using?

I did however get mine up to v1.72 by dropping the HEX file in the root directory on the player with Windows Explorer. But, I can get the Firmware Updater to recognize the player and allow me to see the MTP to UMS button.

Updater version 1.50 now works with the 2 GB model

I used exactly what you have, v 1.50. This didn't always work. I used this to update my now stored blue 1 GB model.

I saw on one of the websites that v1.72 was available, and then took out my 1 GB and tried to upgrade from v1.70 The updater (v1.50) told me that 1.70 was the current firmware for the blue 1 Gig.

Being that I had my black 2 GB on the desk, I wanted to see if the 2GB model was still not usable with the updater. To my surprise this morning, not only did it work, and let me know that v1.72 is the most current for the 2 GB, BUT...I now have all MTP to UMS and UMS to MPT buttons hot and able.

I think you need to have WP11 on your system, for that is required with the 2 GB model. I am running WP11 and have also upgraded to Explorer 7. BTW, Explorer 7 is really GOOD! I love all the new features and a much cleaner interface.

Anyway, with those two installed as upgrades over my standard XP Pro, it works now....well, at least for myself.

Thanks for the response.
However, I have tried 2 different Windows XP machines both with WMP11 loaded and still can't get the dang thing to be recognized by the v.1.50 updater.
Any ideas will be appreciated. I am really frustrated over this.

69roadster - I have no idea whether this may or may not make a difference, but do either of the machines you are trying to use the updater on have internet access, and are you sure the updater is not being blocked by any firewall settings?

Reading of all this trouble people are having makes me quite glad that I got my T10 2bg *with radio* from Sweden - all the good stuff, in UMS straight out of the package!

Love this little thing. A lot.

I waited a month or two for the T10 2GB to be released in Germany. After no luck and the UMS/MTP problem I ordered it from Sweden November 1st. It shipped the day the new firmware was released (still waiting for it to arrive).

I really should have waited ten more days, because now it's easy to update the player to UMS and I would have been able to get it from Ebay Germany (new offer from last week, and the only way to get it in Germany at the moment) and save 45 Euros.

But I don't care! I'm happy to get my T10 2GB really soon!

Help,
I want to change my black 2Gb from MTP to UMS, but the firmware upgrader, simply it doesn't work. I work with WinXP Pro and Internet.

If the change is possible, where I can download iriver plus 2 or 3.

Alfredo, I can't really tell you why Updater V.1.50 started to work with my system (I used it to upgrade from firmware v1.71 to v1.72)

The ONLY think I did prior to trying it out and finding that it now worked (recognized my 2GB and allowed for upgrade and MTP---> <---UMS) was to upgrade Explorer 6 to version 7 (the full release that is now on the EX7 site).

That was all!

The thing started to work!!!

Beats me....

Thanks. But I already thought of that possibility. Firewall turned off on both XP machines. I even bypassed my router and connected directly to the internet and it still didn't work.

Still perplexed!

Hey. I got it up to 1.73UMS. Thanks to Jack.

I did a full-format followed by a Load Default. Then the updater recognized it.

Am happy now.
