T20 MTP old firmware update to UMS
Hello friends, I have a T20 MTP European version with firmware 1.22 and I would like to update to UMS. I´ve read that I must update manually to 1.53 and then switch to UMS using the iriver firmware updater.
When I try to copy the file T20_MTP.HEX to the root (opening it from My Computer) it doesn't allow me to do it (it says me that this file tipe is not compatible). What I am doing wrong? Thank you very much in advance and best wishes to all! Peter

Same for me.
I have this problem to - does your root directory show the data folder? Mine doesn't only shows me "fat16 system". Still trying to work out how to get round no data folder.

my player was 1.22 MTP too. i spent a few days messing around with firmware updater.exe which didn't see the player nor the update. finnaly came up with the solution; manually update the player to most recent MTP version which can be downloaded from official site (just put the file into root and restart the player) after that run again firmware updater.exe and click on "switch" button which was hidden until then. let the program do the job, restart the player and voila.
it seems that firmware updater have difficulties with players running older firmwares, but runs smoothly when player runs recent firmware. goodluck!

I also have a T20FM and it is MTP v. 1.22 and when I run updater it says "Cannot find update information in the INF file." so I'd like to update it manually, but I know only, that I need to put some files into the root directory of my T20. What kind of files are these? Is it T20_MTP.HEX? And most importantly - where can I download them so that I'm sure it's the right one for my player?
I've just tried putting a random file into the root directory and it's impossible. Will it be different for a .HEX file? what can I do to make it possible?

OK. I've used iriver firmware updater v1.30 and it offers possibility of manual upgrading (otherwise it's useless) and I've upgraded to 1.53 MTP with no problems. The zip file necessary for this upgrade was available on iriver site. Unfortunately there still are some problems (same ones) and I need 1.71 firmware to upgrade manually, but it's not on the iriver site and the ones from here won't help. Where can I get the right zip file with firmware 1.71 for T20FM MTP for manual upgrade?
