T10 2GB in UMs: perhaps a nordic solution?

Hello,

I own an iriver T10 2GB with radio (firmware v 1.17, american version). Its almost perfect but it's working in MTP I can use it with linux but it would be better in UMS.
So, as a lot of people here I looked for a way to switch my player in UMS and I doesn't find any.

During my searching, I saw that the nordic T10 2GB were in UMS out of the box. (http://www.irivernordic.com/default....duct.asp?id=37)
So I need comments: would it be possible to pick up the "nordic" iriver T10 2GB firmware and to flash the american version of the player ?

The nordic firmware could be get back by contacting iriver.com and asking them if they can provide it to us. I don't know if it will work, does someone have contacts in the iriver firm? because no answers are coming out their official forum and their emails.

Another thing would be to contact a nordic T10 user (a geek that could help us) and to ask him to "extract" the firmware. (is it technically possible ?)

Well, as it happens, 13. november I'm going to sweden to pick up an T10 2GB version for myself. And I live in Finland.

I have no idea how to extract the firmware, but if you could guide me, I'm willing to try. If I get the player...

The problem right now is that i still do not have my T10 handed, it might be with me soon (i hope so).

What im doing right now is helping others to find a solution and at the same time learn about some way to do it on mine when it arrives.

Okay so I got my T10 2BG black model. With a radio. And guess what? It really does have UMS.

If someone figures out a way to use this for the good of all, I'd be happy to help.

The last iriver v1.73 firmware brings UMS with T10 2GB, so we've got now everything we need.

Is the T10 2G supported in the U.S. with UMS? Can anyone help out? If so, how/where can I get the update? Or is there a neat trick like with the H10? Thanks!

Simply install and run the iriver updater, available at their web site.

You have to update twice. Once from 1.71 to 1.72. Once that is done, update again, and you'll be given the option to change to UMS, which will install 1.73. Read the dialogue boxes carefully -- sometime people miss the USM<>MTP button.
